Hi guy's, nice forum here. I had no idea this rockcrawling thing was this huge. Been thinking about building a Clod myself, but thats not what brings me here today. I recently got ahold of a used Emaxx for my 6 year old daughter (should be way better than playing Bratz dolls right?). I have a bunch of nitro's myself, and a MLST. She has a mini t she's been playing with for about 6 months now, and she has gotten pretty good with it, but it can't go through the lawn or up a leaf pile. So I got her the Emaxx thinking I could slow it down. Then I thought about who likes to go slow, rockcrawlers do, so here I am. So far I have a pair of stock Clod motors, 13 tooth pinions, and a LRP F1 Pro speedo. I don't want it ridiculously slow, I just want maybe 10, 15 miles an hour tops. I have read about locking the tranny, but it looks irreversable? If so then thats out too. I am thinking with these motors wired in parellel along with a pair of 3300 venom batts she will be able to bash around the yard for around 30 minutes or so? Tell me what you guy's think, and you have some awesome trucks here, very good tech.

heh, I just replied over at UE. I would have suggested you grab a couple of 27t lathe motors, smaller pinions (10ts maybe) and use the stock esc along with the stock batteries. That's basically what I've done (except I only have one motor on it right now) for this .21 t-maxx I converted to an electric. Ultimately this will also become a crawler, but for now it is great for my 6 year old.

It came without the stock esc, I got two emaxx's, one BL and one a roller. So I figured this would be okay, especially with stock 540 motor's costing next to nothing. Even if she does screw em up, I'm out like 4 bucks. These lathe motors you guys talk about are regular comm lathe motors right? And I guess. And I'll get ridicualous run time from then from what you said at UE? Last edited by Jrgunn5150; 02-21-2006 at 08:53 PM.

You don't have to lock the tranny. Locking the tranny is only meant to combat the slop that the tranny has. I run my e-maxx without the servo that controls the gears. If the adjuster bar is pushed all the way in, thats 2nd gear, if it is pulled out, that is 1st gear. I just leave it that way and I have no problems with it. Also, about 4 years ago, I ran 4 battery packs in my e-maxx lol. Basically, it was two packs wired in parallel x 2 using the stock esc, and I used to run easily over an hour with that thing. Just play with the gearing, keep it in 1st, and see if you can get it to the speed you want with just one motor. I bet you can.
