Default Maxx Tube Chassis

Ok, after working on my tube chassis and working on the maxx axles have come up with a question. Talking about the link mounts on the frame only, how far apart are your bottom link mounts? Mine are 5.75 Inches from the front link mount to the rear, which now I think is about 3 inches to much. Same with the top link mounts. The mounts are 3 inches apart, both top and bottom which I guess might be fine. Might be time to start building another tube frame up!

Default Nothing Lost

Oh nothing is lost, I figured when I started this chassis I would be making another one, using this one to learn and figure things out. Not having ever seen a rock crawler in person, had to do most from photo's on here. Once I get the shocks I ordered, will use this frame to try some different way of making the shock mounts.
I just wanted to have an idea on the distance most of the better tube frame maxx crawlers link mounts are apart.

It looks fine to me, just don't leave the 50/50 link setup. Make the links shorter up front and longer in the back. A forward thinking setup is where it's at, especially if you want to go vertical with a shafted truck.

Default 50/50 links

Well that is the problem with pictures, the links are 60/40 not 50/50. I would just like 2 or 3 people who have good crawlers, to let me know the distance between their front and rear link mounts on their frames.

Why the distance on the chassis? It's about the link setup mostly.

How long are your front lower links? How long are your rear lower links? What's your current wheelbase?

If you really need a chassis measurement, ALL RCRG Rockraider chassis are 1.75" between lower link mounting holes. It has a small base. My lower front links are 5.25" long while my rear links are 7.5" long. My wheelbase is about 15.5" or so.

i try to keep my lower link mounting holes lined up as close to the tranny u-joints as possible, both vertically and horizontally. i think the measurement is like 4" or so from front joint to rear joint (inbetween). this allows the lower links and the shafts to pivot at the same point on the chassis. my upper links are usually have a little bit longer measurement inbetween them but i try to get them close to the same area

i'm sure it's not 100% right, but it works for me

i wouldn't trash the chassis. try it first, if it works as is then there is no need to change

Default thanks

Thanks Toyofast and Xtremraptor for the mearsurements. The problem with having the link mounts so far apart on the frame, is the links themselves have to be so short, which seems to limit their movement. LOL, plus now thanks to Toyofast, see that I made my links wrong, front ones are longer than rear, hence the 60/40 is going the wrong way. As I said, will keep building this one for a test bed, but also will start working on another frame, hopefully better one thanks to the help from the group here.

Nice chassis. You gonna sell any? I'm no expert nor is my rig a comp rig but it looks good. My links are equal in distance apart on the chassis. My lowers and uppers are about 2" apart. My rear links are a tad over an inch longer than the front links. I was all under the impression it was all about the placement of weight (low and forward).
