Phase 1: Lifted the tranny and got rid of the lower braces. Installed braces from the chassis to the shock tower to regain strength. Gained a good amount of ground clearance, but increased my center of gravity. Phase 2: Rotated the motor plate and mounted the motor the other way. Also using one motor only now. Lower center of gravity, now the motor almost sits against the chassis. The titan worked amazingly well on 7.2 volts. But it has a magnetic mayhem onn it now and it works perfect. Phase 3: Significant increase in travel via savage shocks and suspension mods. I also removed second gear and epoxied the dog clutches in the tranny to get rid of all the slack in the transmision. these mods worked well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() the next generation (still rough looking). it is longer and has ALLOT of foward weight. also, the weight is super low.: ![]() newest pics (april, 12, 2004): ![]() ![]()

nice E kevin. i just got an e-maxx roller with no tranny. i am going to make a rock crawler out of it. i like the savage shock conversion, this is what i want to do. can you put the savage shocks on without cutting the susp arms? any info on your shock conversion would be appreciated! thanx, and keep up the good work!

dizrack, you have to cut the suspension arms to allow for the increased travel. just remove the shocks and see what hits, then cut it off! you also have to grind the axle carriers because the pivot balls hit. move the suspension with no shocks on it and you will see where the pivot balls hit the axle carriers, then start gringing!!! grinding is fun, hehe!

First, cut the lower chassis braces (part#4923). Use it as a spacer between the tranny and the chassis. It is much easier to get standard thread screws, so I used 6-32 by 1 ½ inch long screw I got from the local hardware store to mount the tranny. Next you have to cut slots in the chassis for the driveshafts. I just used a dremel with a cutoff wheel. I used the same "male" part of the driveshaft but used a longer female section which I cut to 2 ¾ inch (total length from the metal universal to the cut point on shaft). Next I stiffened the chassis/bulkhead with electric rustler steering rods (part#3139 and 2742). I just drilled holes in the shock tower and frame. Last, I used a heat gun to bend the skid plats up at the ends so they wouldn’t get stuck on anything. | |

i've been installing my suspension mods on a stock widemaxx to see how well just the suspension mods work. The "stock" widemaxx only has locked diffs and lower gearing. that's about it. the main reason i've been quiet is because my neighbor got an r/c electric plane, so i had to get one too and now i've been flying allot.

Kev,,, The Twin Force is lookin really good as a crawler... The short comings are the links... Not too much articulation. :( But,, with a little ingenuity,, I think I can make it a decent crawler... I like the chassis parts.. Kinda takes the guess work out of buildin one... I'm goin to build a link Maxx from the chassis of the TF... I bought extra chassis plates, motor plate, etc.. I built a tranny plate to fit the TF using a Maxx tranny.. should be interesting to say the least..
