I need to choose a set of tires for my custom crawler. I was thinking of using mashers but i'm not sure yet. I also need to pick a set of rims aswell. before i don't know what to use for those either. I want a tire with lots of side wall. and i'll cut the rims if i have to, i'd really apprecate it if you guys could help me. Thanks.

i'm not sure why more guys have not jumped in here. i'm not that familiar with tires and rims. but, i have had good success with savage tires/rims on my emaxxs'. if you cut the savage tires and take out the foams they perform well. they also work well stock on some surfaces. i'll send this link to my buddy zbigbad, he knows more about tires than i do.

I've never crawled with Mashers but I'd almost swear they'd be great crawling tires. They're made from a really sticky rubber and while they don't have tons of sidewall bite, they have enough. Soft compound Swamp Dawgs would also make good crawling tires although IMEX sux as a company (had to throw that in). And, as Kevin said, Savage tires are soft, squishy and easy to cut. I am running a set on my Boyer crawler right now with a set of beadlocks. Of course a lot of this depends on what you'll be crawling on. I would certainly give the Mashers a try. If you can narrow the rims they go on a little bit to pull the sidewalls around, I think you'll find them great tires for all crawling surfaces.

Ok i can give the mashers a try and maybe the stock savage tires, My truck is quite heavy already and i only have the frame together and no other parts on it as of late. I was thinking of jumbo swamp dawgs because most people say that the swamp dawg hass a stff sidewall. But i'll be sure to consider the masher or savage tire. I'm not sure on rims through. thanks for the help though.

I would like to try those new tires on the new losi truck i think it was there is a couple of posts about the tires in the tires and wheels section. they look cool and dirk was saying that they should be pretty soft. |
