Default Lipos for E-Maxx

Hey guys, I need to know what kind of Lipos can be ran in an E-Maxx (brushed) with the EVX-2 speed controller?
A friend of mine got a set of 3c 5000mah Lipos for his E-Maxx and he can't get it to run. Is a 3C to much power for that speed controller?
I know I am running a set of 2C Lipos in my Summit and they work fine.

You cannot run 3s lipos (I assume that's what you meant) with that ESC. He may have fried it, the EVX-2 is only rated for 16.8v and 2 3s battery's are over 22v.

A couple of 5000mah 2s lipos will make that thing a little zippier and get you longer run times and be in the safe zone for the ESC.

Thanks guys. That's what I thought. I told him about that. He wasn't very happy with the guy at the hobby shop that sold him those batteries because HE didn't know what to get and that guy there told him that those batteries would work.
