Default Another Maxx Crawler

Hey guys. It has been FOREVER since I have last posted on here, but been lurking off and on.

I have built up a "stock" emaxx awhile ago, and got bored with it quick, haha. So, I went to my steel supply store, picked up a run of 1/8th" rod, and started making a chassis.

Haven't got very far, but I have the tranny mounted, battery tray done, and the rough framing for the chassis ;)

I am modeling mine after a few different buggies on this site, so if you see similarities, that is why ;)

Both diffs have spools, and I did the tranny mod already. I still dunno what I am gonna do for axles (lockouts, custom, etc...)

Here's a few photos of what I've got done so far:

I wanted to "mock up" everything, so I did. Wheelbase is 15." Track width is 13." The height of the buggy will be approx 11.5." Clearance under the belly of the buggy will be approx 5.5" and diff clearance is 4.25"

Looks good so far!
You got any ideas on suspension and axles?

I would really suggest not mounting your batteries up there. Put them down low on the axles where they'll do you some good. With your center clearance that high and all that metal up there, you want the CoG as low as you can get it.

Suspension and axles... gonna lock out my stock emaxx stuff for now. As far as suspension goes, I am gonna 4-link it, and see if I can't use the stock shocks (for now). Kinda building this on a budget, and since it is my first attempt at totally custom/homemade project, I am sure I am gonna learn a thing or two, haha.

Thanks for the input on the batteries. I just hate how they look ziptied to the axles. Not that it matters much, but I will be making my 7 cell batteries 6 cell.

You have some room on the inside of those tires, maybe make something up inside the rim like the clod guys do.
