I like the idea, but what is your axle ground clearance?

I'm guessing you cut off the top and bottom of the maxx knuckle for clearance purposes on the wheels??

I personally wouldn't trust that mounting, but that's me.. Nice job on teh build so far though

This is what I did, then drilled and tapped for 4-40. This is the weakeast point on the axle. I'm thinking I may use studs here with locktight. Topped with a castle nut if I can find one.

Did you bore out standard 12mm hexes for the 6mm Maxx axle? Or was it an off the shelf item you found?

Yes 12 mm hexes drilled out a bit bigger than 15/64. Used the pins for the smaller hexes. I made a small spacer out of 5/16 brakeline to fit between the pin and the outer wheel bearing.

Default Some updates

As it sits now. Wheelbase is a bit under 12.5. Clearence under skid plate is 2.75. Front axle is 12" at the widest point. Mostly because of the toe out to get better ackerman. Rear axle is about 11" wide. The beadlocks are made via the PVC method detailed at How-To: Functional 2.2 Beadlocks for under $30
Electrics are moped esc, traxxas receiver, and 55t Lathe engine.

I cut and CA'd some allthread in the knuckles topped off with a nylock. Its held up pretty good so far. I've run about 4 or 5 batteries through it.

I used an associated Stealth tranny. Drilled and tapped the outdrives. Cut some quarter inch round rod drilled and tapped. Drilled out some maxx yokes to 1/4.

You are planning on cutting that extra thread off the wheels right?

If so, it would be better to turn them around so the round head is on the outside

The clearence on the inside is really tight. Barely fits as it is. So the nuts stay out.

The screws will be cut.
