Default Revo Build

Heres a couple of pics of some axles im making out of revo parts .I already own a revo so I figured that since i already have some parts it would make a good start. The plan is to have the steering on the backside of the axle (fingers crossed) in between the links.

There about 11 1/8 from flange to flange the way it looks , but assembled its about 13 1/2. Luckily a good buddy has a spool gun (not the best for small aluminum pieces but worked) to weld it all together. So far not too hard if your carefull with a tablesaw/chopsaw and drill press

Actually I live in northern B.C.. More snow than rocks right now BigRichis that where the links are going to connect on bottom of the houseings

Those tabs are for the lower links, a sacrafice i had to make to get the steering on the backside of the axle. I plan on using stainless for the lower links so should slide ok

I finally received most of the parts I ordered, and have the axles locked and assembled Also started on an aluminum tube chassis, going to be fun welding . Hopefully the aluminum stands up well, atleast its light.

Killer axles Stainless .

Aluminum tube frame will be very light, although I don't think it will hold up well. I am by no means an expert, but I have bent steel tubing on rollovers. also tried some aluminum tube links, they didn't last a day.

Heres some progress pics, got the links done today . Trying to keep with the Revo theme for the shocks (I have maxx shocks as back-up). Also to clear things up Im using 1/4 solid roundbar, 4340 with 030 4340 wire in the spool gun. I had to grind most of the welds but so far Im happy with it.

Do you have any flex shots with your present shock setup. The axles cleaned up real nice. I just about finihsed my tube chassis but now thing I am going to rebuild it with 1/4" steel rod. But I may try one out of aluminum later down the road. Also just looking at your top links and it looks like they would work better if the where mounted on the inside of the bracket rather than the outside.

No flex shots yet, still have to mount the other 3 shocks. I had the top links mounted on the inside but they rubbed a bit on the bracket, nothing a file and a washer wouldnt fix.

How is the axle for side to side motion. By moving them to the inside of your mount you will have better triangulation. What did you use to build the axles. I was thinking about Revo diffs but never having seen one up close I stayed clear. But having seen yours it looks like a better way to go than the Maxx diff.

Hey Great Build SUPER Clean and SIMPLE

Really like your axles , great light strong idea
Nice light simple frame

What Trans are you using?

Any advantage to using Revo Diffs ?

Why did you mount your Lower links UNDER the axle ?

How do the links work out ? they look a little short

how are you fabrication the tube and axles, mig welder or ??

Thank you
and Great Build up

Also I'm using a team losi xxt tranny
not too sure about advantages of revo diffs, but they seem tough
as for the lower links,if I had cvd's I could tuck them up a bit more but the revo axles got in the way
as for the links ,the wheel base is 16 inches and the links seem to work ok so far.

and the welding is done with a spool gun, a mig welder basically but the spool of wire is on the gun you hold.
