| Hey guys I am building a TXT but am using a maxx tranny and I have a question. Which way does teh tranny need to face? Does the spur gear face forward? That is what I ahve seen on a few, but does it matter? Couldnt it technically run both directions? ANd what are you using to lock it in low gear? Also, I am curious if you guys are running lathe motors with your maxx tranny, and if so, are you using reductions? Or, since you have a low gear already, are you fine with just the lathe? Thanks for the help. josh |

| well it depends on what axles your running to know if you have to turn the trans around or not. if your axles don't spin in a clockwise motion when going forward, you will need to run the trans backwards. i was never a big fan of running a trans in reverse rotation I just super glued the crap outta mine when i locked mine. been holding up over a year now if your just running 1 battery with the lathe w/ a 9 pinion and 72 spur, it will be slow enough. almost too slow. no need for a gd-600 |

| I am running the TXT axles, I cant get to my axles since I am at work, which way do they turn? Based on that, which way does the transmission need to face? I can turn it any direction right now but I gotta know before I make mounts for it! |

| The E-Maxx and TXT/Jugg trannies rotate in opposite directions. With the Jugg/TXT trannies the pinions face forward. To use the Maxx tranny with Jugg/TXT axles the pinions need to face to the rear. So...my motor plate is to the rear. Not sure how this would affect tranny mounts since each side of the tranny has the same bolt pattern...can rotate the tranny either way unless you're doing something funky like I did on Jr. To lock the tranny I drilled a couple of holes through the slider that engages 1st and 2nd. Then I put screws through the slider and into the gear. This not only locks the tranny into first (can do the same thing by locking the shaft that moves in/out of the tranny) but it also gets rid of all the slack in the E tranny. 1st gear is the larger of the two gears on the output shaft. | the E-Maxx is set up to rotate the driveshafts to the axles counterclockwise (when viewed from the front of the truck). the spur gear is mounted to the rear of the tranny, so for clockwise rotation, turn the tranny around so the gears are to the front. since all the gears are straight-cut, there's no problem running it backwards. i have a backwards E tranny in my TLT (and forward one in the E-Maxx) and it works great in either direction. as for locking it in first, why? 2nd works great for driving up to the rocks, then pop into first for crawling. the s speed makes the truck more versatile. also, if you find yourself just a little bit stuck, 2nd gear allows for faster wheelspin. |
