Default Robinson Racing gear question

Ok, so I just ordered some gears from Tower hobbies. I ordered a 72t spur gear and 2 9t pinion gears. I just put them on, but even when they're adjusted (I used the plastic bag between the gears to get them set), they seem to have a little more friction than normal. I know for sure that the pinion gears are 32p, but the spur gear did not say. So would the spur gear being a different pitch cause them to chatter more and feel a little more resistant? Or is that just what upgrading gears/using metal gears does? I don't want to destroy the gears, so if anybody can help me out here, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

em 72t sounds like it should be emaxx aka 32 pitch. 32 and 48 wont even mesh together at all, it will just grind if too lose/lock up if too tight.

what I do is bolt the motor up, push gears hard against each other, so its tight, and then slightly pull back, semi-tighten motor screw (have one fully tightened so you can move the gear mesh slowly on one side) and if it feels ruff, loosen the semi-tight screw, pull back a lil more. and do that til its perfect. My TLT w/ pede trans doesnt make nearly any sound from the trans now cuz the gears are broken in!

An Emaxx is 32 pitch so if you have 9T pinions @ 32 pitch it sounds like adjustment. If they (pinions) are anything like the RC4WD ones I sell they have a bevel to tthe teeth where they were machined less and less towards the set screw. So like the other guy says.......do some adjusting

Stampede gears are 48 pitch so its a big difference

I have that exact setup, except i run one 55t lathe motor so i only use one 9t pinion. The stock is easier to get the mesh right, but after a little while you can get the 9/72 to work . Took me a few adjustments till I got it to the perfect setting.

set one at a time.
set one then take it off put on the other, set it. then put the first one back on. this way the mesh will be perfect.

He just means to take the pinion off the first motor, leaving the motor where it is.
