Anyone ever done it? I am thinking if I can modify the stock 14mm hex's to 12mm, I can run 2.2" rims on my maxx. Just wondering if there's any other ways to do it. I want to run the new All-T's on my new nitro maxx project truck.

Just grind some material off of the stock hex. As far as I know, no one makes adaptors. I don't think that 2.2 rims will fit over the knuckles.

with grinding the hexes down, you may get into that hex pin. if not, you will weaken it very much. as for the knuckles, i'm not sure if the rims will fit over the knuckles.I have a set of 2.2 rims outside and my maxx axles are tore apart. so i will measure it for ya to make sure

with ofna 2.2s they have a ton of offset. they work great on a tlt. as far as adapters. drill out a 12mm hex and hope.

yeah i went out and measured last night( forgot to for ya) but the Maxx knuckles and a set of 2.2 rims i have are both the same measurement. the rims will not fit over the knuckles unless you do some serious trimming/shaving. If you get into all that then, i would really think your going to run into strength issues

you can shave a small amount off of the maxx knuckle to get them to fit...it will not effect strength to greatly.

Hmm those OFNA wheels look nice, But I want to narrow the truck up. Back in the day I had the first gen maxx, cut the stock arms shorter, drilled out the ends for the pillow balls, and using ofna adaptors mounted 1/8th scale tires on it. It looked sweet. I was kinda hoping to do the same to this one, but use the larger All-T's this time, bringing them in closer for a more scale look.

Hmmmm, that's different ideasounds like a little work is involved, but making a 2.2 sized maxx.. i kinda like it... I may just try that route instead of a TLT for my son.If you decide to do it, please post up what your doing. When you narrowed your last maxx, how short did you cut your arms?

Well I started with a Non-widemaxx maxx, and then took about an inch off each side. So it was 2" narrower, then ran 1/8th scale buggy wheels and tires on it with the ofna adaptors. I need to find another set of non-widemaxx arms to do it to the one I have now. The cool thing is that the All-T's are 5.5" according to their site, and the stocks are 5.75" so I won't be giving up that much height.

Small Scale Emaxx I just used alloy rims and shaved a very small amount off the inside with a lathe. They work like a champ.
