Default Slop in the maxx tranny?

There is a TON of slop in my maxx tranny. How do I get rid of it? I mean, there is almost a ful 1/4 turn before it engages either direction. SO, I am assuming there is something I can do taht can help this. If I do so, will it still allow me to use low gear and high gear? Or will it be locked eternally in low?
Thanks.....
josh
