Default One motor in an emaxx? non-evx

So I searched and found the evx mod, but can you run a single motor in an emaxx that doesn't have an evx?

I'm asking because a friend offered me his emaxx for 150 bucks with a lot of extra stuff. Is that a good deal? It seems like it.

You can run a single motor in an E-maxx with pretty much any speed control, most run a lathe motor or Mag Mayhem. Personally, I like 1 motor with a reduction unit like the GD-600. Depending on how you gear it a lathe with a reduction is a little on the slow side, but you get tons of torque.

If you plan on running dual servos spring for the Super Rooster.

So, does running one motor with the traxxas esc require the same mod as with the evx or do you just hook up one motor?

The EVX is wired for 2 motors. Which ESC are you asking about? You should be able to plug it in and go, if the ESC is set-up to run 1 motor.

I'm talking about the stock traxxas esc (pre-evx emaxx). I assume it's wired for two motors. I just don't know anything about it.

The original ESC for the E-maxx, the VX12? They re-called those, why does he still have it? It is wired for 2 motors.

I'm only assuming that's what it is because I know it is an older emaxx. If it was recalled, it may not be. I'll be getting the truck next week, so I'll have to figure it out for sure then. Thanks for your help, I'm kind of getting an idea of where to go with this now.

didnt read the whole post, but i HIGHLY suggest you dont try and run one motor and one batery with that TItan motor. the Titan motor is intended for 14.4 volts. feeding it only 7.2 volts will cuase it to only run at half speed
