Default questions about the emaxx

ok, so im thinkin about building a crawler, maybe just an off road beast... not sure yet.

i like the emaxx. mad easy to find parts, relatively easy to modify and repair, and some would say traxxas are the best (not me, but some). oh yeah, and its 30 bucks less than the TXT-1 and the emaxx comes with a radio system!

so my questions are, A) the emaxx has a 2 speed tranny. is it possible to have one speed super super high for crawling, and the second gear normal speed for bashing? is there a way to do that even outside the tranny? its no fun to only have a truck that goes 1mph OR one that only goes 30mph. both would be nice

b) i plan on using it primarily as an off road truck. mud crawling (once i get water proof boxes for the ESC and servos) and just general crawling and rock bashing. rarely will it be run full throttle, however i may take it to the bmx bike track on occasion. with general off road driving, and dual 2400mah battery packs (6 cell 7.2 volt) what can i expect for run time? what simple mods can i do out of the box to increase run time?

c) i know its no clod, and i know its no txt 1, but what can i expect for off road performance from this beast?

Well first off.. you'd want one gear super low for crawling not high.
and if you wanna go real low, you wont be able to have the high speed of the reg emaxx. I'm new to thsi also.. but I'm pretty sure you can have a super crawler and a high speed basher as the same truck. (unless ya wanna swap gears each time)
Second... run time willl be able 15-20 maybe a little less if ya run full throttle or get it bind up (which is bad) Extend run time.. hmm.. I'm trying to figure that out too

third.. for a basher.. the Emaxx is awesome...
personally haven't ran a clod or txt... but i think maxx great.. no complaints here.

please..feel free to correct me I said anything incorrect...don't want to lead this guy in the wrong direction.

honestly even if it goes 5mph low and 10 mph high ill be happy. i want low enough gearing to be a decent crawler but still have high gear be high enough to get across my yard without having to carry the damn thing!

i tore up my emaxx and made it a crawler. first i had the tranny bone stock and it did good at crawling.
so you may be able to crawl and bash without changing the gearing.
just go easy on the throttle when crawling.

since i was only going to crawl with it i changed the gearing as low as i could and went to one motor.

its hard to have the best of both worlds. you can't change the internal gears to do that 2 speed thing. thats kinda been beaten like a dead horse thing i had ran a 12 pinion and 72 spur and it would crawl just fine and still would get it when i needed to, but that was with one motor and battery. if your still gonna run 2 motors and batteries, go to a 9 tooth pinion and 72 spur

whats the point of only running 1 motor? dont you lose alot of torque?

better runtimes, better control and don't break stuff all the time due to all that torque

yes it does, but you have to short out one side of the EVX..do a search on here( maxx crawlers section and general section) and you will see how to do it. it doesn't work good with a Titan motor since they will only run half speed due to not having 14.4v. so change the motor to a Mag motor or a Lathe motor or whatever and it will run just fine.
