Default what exactly can i do to my maxx?

im getting an emaxx and after the buy, i have a VERY limited supply of money. i want to know what mods i can do to it to help it out and crawl but im not wanting to buy anything too expensive. 5 bucks is my limit for now. i know 1, u can locked all diffs. because 1 locked and not the others is bad for the truck. anything else that i can do?

thanx,
Ryan

well if your on a $5 budget, your screwed you cant even bu a thing of JBweld for the diffs for that probably

but yes, lock BOTH diffs. go to 1 spring per corner. stiffen the springs up by changing to 70wt oil and possibly a few spacers in the springs also.then do the EVX mod and run 1 battery and buy a lathe motor. run a 9t and 72spur combo.DO NOT run a TITAN motor on 1 battery. it will only run at half speed

or get a MM motor and a GD600, run an 18t pinion( comes with the GD600) on the motor and a 12t pinion off the gd600. that will give you a crawl ratio of about 110:1 and works very well.

i looked at the EVX mod and idk if i want to do that though. i can get the 55t lathe motors for CHEAPER than u get them for probally. the shock thing i knew about and i already have JB Weld. im getting (x2) GP3300 7 cell MOD batteries and the stock titan motors. I love those batteries! srry about that, lol. Any one else like to reply other than twisted that seems to be "patroling" the forum nearly 24/7 and answers everyones ?'s right when he sees them when possible. i appreciate the reply twisted.

I agree with TC, do the MM, GD-600 and EVX mod. Your run times and torque will increase big time!! Your rig will be lighter which translates to less stress on the drivetrain and servos too.

these are about the closest pics of the GD600 reduction unit installed on mine.you can see it between the motor and trans plate.it adds tons of torque and adds on the runtime. I have a 27t johnson motor w/ gd600 on a 3000 pack and get right at 1 1/2hr runtimes. here is a link to it. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXSL79&P=ML

I can kinda see it. 1 1/2 hour run times, that's crazy! hahahaha. I have the 3300 7 cells, the big boys too. Im wanting to go with lathe motors bacause I dont have to pay shipping to get them. So here is the folowing To-Do list when I get my E-Maxx. Correct me if I'm missing something.

1. Lock Diffs.
2. Remove Spring from 1 shock per corner.
3. Stiffen the springs.
4. Do the EVX Mod.
5. GD-600 Swap.
6. Lathe Motor Swap.

I think i got it right. Thank you again for the replys and Twisted, you are really helping me out!

Im really learning a lot from this forum because the Drifting forum I belong to had WAY too many n00bs on it and unlike here, the is not much valuable information listed. I learn on average 2-3 things a day from this forum.

Just run 4 shocks, there's no need to run the other 4 without springs.

Here's a couple pics of my GD-600 installed in my TXT.

from your other post, me and bender got the same thing-that you was gonna run the 8 shocks still but only 4 springs...

on the GD600 installation- you will see a piece of black plastic sticking out. most drill out the motor plate on the trans, but that is not needed.you can shave that piece off since the bearing doesn't come out that far. that way you have a flush mount then just have the gd600 shaft turned down up to the bearing. piece of cake.

with running a lathe and the gd600, you will need to gear a litle higher since the lathe motor slows things way down as it is. i run a 18t pinion on the motor(the pinion that comes with the reduction unit) and a 12t pinion off the gd600 to a 72t spur gear.but im running a 27t johnson motor, so it has the power to give me wheelspeed back.you may want to try a 16t (32pitch) gear off the gd600 and see how that does..with running a lathe motor and reduction, you may see more runtimes :?

My opinion.....save the other 4 shocks....If this sport hooks ya (which it probably will) You may wanna build another crawler...maxx shocks works great, and you wouldn't have to buy any later!!!

ya know, i was just thinking of saving them but if i did sell them, it would because i REALLY need the money and me having a job pretty soon and having the money to get supplys and shit for building a crawler. i will keep them, less crap for me to buy.

Default I Got My Maxx ALL!!

well it came at 1:30 today and im pleased in the condition it is in, however, the driveshaft where mega twisted so new set of those. And another thing is that im running (x2) 7 cell 3300 battery packs and it lost its charge in like 8 minutes and it wouldnt do wheelies and and all that good stuff any more, it went slower thats all. If I put 2 lathe motors in there with the same batterys, what gears should i use if i want the torque level and the speed almost same (torque being more than speed, but i still want to do wheelies).

sure you were in first gear? I got about 15 min of wheelies with 1500 sport packs when mine was running. surface makes a big diffrence as well doesnt take as much power to wheelie on grass.

Just go with lathe motors, don't change your gearing. You should get better runtimes and more tourqe
