I bought a used E-maxx and I would like to know a bit about it. I am haveing a few problesm with it and would like to know facts before i confront the seller. First off is the steering. I can not turn the wheels unless the turck is moving. Is this normal? It's on tile so not too much friction. I would understand it on the grass but not on tile. What about the shifting? Should I be able to see a difference in speed when i go from 1st to 2nd? Seems like the speed doesn't change at all and it goes no where near 30MPH. Thanks for the help on this. I hope I didn;t get hosed on the deal.

Check your speed control, battery packs, and the radio.

Well i ran a second charge on the batteries and the steering still sucks but i guess that's the way it is untill I get a better servo. It is shifting normally and runs strong for about 5 minutes. Then it just fades fast. I was told that the batteries are 3000 packs but i am not sure on that. No way of really telling I guess. They are all black with no markings on them. I'll search around to see what everyone is running for servos and batteries.

stock steering servo sucks. as for the shifting, i can't really tell a difference either. electric motors can't use 2-speeds as efficiently as nitros

I've been reading and noticed everyone talking about servo savers and I had no clue what they were. SO I looked them up and i guess i have one on here. SO I am gonna try to remove it and see what happens.

what number is on the servo? 2055 or 2018? should be a 2055 and it has 80 oz of torque.. dont' matter if you run 2.2 tires, that servo sucks.. for shifting- what is your setup? still stock? runing 2 titan moros and the EVX still?

It's the 2055 on the steering and 2018 on the shifting. Everything is stock on it for now. 2 titans, and the EVX. I am waiting for the MM motors to coe before I tear into it. I just want to make sure everything is working properly first.

i just threw a 645mg in for steering. the linkages are ineffiecient as hell, really slows down the 645mg a lot, but it gets the job done. this thing has wwaaaaayyyy more power than i though, those twin 550's launch this thing into a wheelie everytime! even on my slick basement floor.

Well I got rid of the sevo saver and it works a little better but not by much. I am going to get a 645 for when I start building it. One more question. I was running it in the backyard and from time to time it would make a loud clicking noise and wouldn't move. The motors would spin but the truck would not move. Like something in the tranny was not working properly. Is this just cause of the slop on the tranny? It would eventually kick into gear or if i went from 1st to 2nd it would work but every once in a while it would just sit and spin.

your shifting servo probly wasn't pushing it all the way into gear, that happens on my savvage's reverse every so often

Thanks for the help guys. The plans for the truck are. Custom tube chassis wrapped around a cut and modified clod budter body( I want it to look like my 1:1 Blazer Twisted style axles MM motor GD-600 Hitech 645MG Revo Shafts Locked tranny and diff's Stock wheels w/rock rings Jumbomax swamp dogs I've been lurking aorund here for a while reading up on what seems to work for everyone and that seems to be the right combo. I'm sure I will have many more questions during the buildup.

you can also relocate the shift servo and put a second servo in its place (upside down), which will speed up your steering considerably. i used 2 JR Z590's and have no problem steering on grass, carpet, whatever. this works a lot better if you have an ESC with a good BEC circuit, like the Novak Super Rooster or Super Duty (6v, 3a)

Micro, Thanks for the info. What i ended up doing was just getting the hitech 645Mg and it worked 10 times better. I'm sure once I do the solid axle conversion and get rid of the stock steering it will work even better.

If the batteries are old or have been neglected they will have a shorter life as well. Pick up a fresh 3000mah and then you will see a difference. Also put a drop of teflon lube on the links for steering. I know most will say it is not needed but I found all my steering to work so much better when I kept it cleaned and lubed. I have had a few T-Maxx' and Revo's in my time and they hold up well. I used a Futaba 3050 ( I think that is the model number) servo for steering and it had about 130 oz inches of torque and a .19 transit time. It was only $30. So you might want to check it out.
