Default Project: Wishbone begins

i locked the front and rear diff in my latest money pit, my Emaxx (i bought another one because i liked it so much for bashing, that one will be a hillclimber). it's suprisingly good at crawling for being independent suspension, high cg, 12 in WB, and stock 5.5" hard tires.

it crawled better than my first clod:

most of the problems i encountered involved flipping over backwards.

i broke 2 driveshafts today (i guess jumping + locked diffs + full throttle = broken shit)

so now's a perfect time to start my custom chassis.

i'll keep you updated

P.S. - name comes from the double wishbone suspention, clever eh?

here some pics.

need some hardware before i can finish this thing up. stock lower chassis braces have been cut in half and will be attached to the L pieces.

some aluminum from the chassis will be removed and the tranny will be placed up front. revo shaft to the rear. not sure about battery mounting yet, but power will come from 2 mag mayhems and a rooster. steering will be courtesy of a 645MG. tires will be shared with my clod (narrowed moabs)

WB is at 16"

alright, bolted up the braces and marked where to cut the chassis rails for the tranny. its suprisingly stiff. before adding the braces it was able to twist quit a bit, it still twists a bit but i still have a tranny to mount, battery and electronics plates also. twist may actually help it too.

WB seems long though, i may shorten it down the road so the articulation matches the wheel base

some pics so far:

now i know your building it the way you want it, but why not just use 2 stock maxx chassis? that way ya get the length and get the 4ws also? but i guess you wouldn't need that if your keeping it 2ws only

owell,just another idea

but looking good so far

A) i dont have a 2nd chassis but i have aluminum

2) this is lighter

III) i only want to run one battery

d) narrower, better side clearance

i must be doing something right anyway, i can slide a pop can under the center of the chassis, and it doesn't even have moabs on it yet!

just mount the servos to the shock tower/bulkhead area like the rad rc kit

Hey vit-j how do you plan to make a revo shaft fit that length? custom build them? it seems real long for a revo shaft but maybe it my eyes or the picture. good luck

That's what I did to my rear driveshaft, it worked great. I cut the u-joint off the male half shaft and glued it into one of the female half shafts. Then cut the other female to length needed. My rear shaft is 7 1/2" long now.
