so far like this. It's an interesting design. Don't really care for the body though. Looking around online I was thinking about the 72 chevy front cage back that comes on the ascender. any pitchers of what you guys done post them up. Thanks a lot"thumbsup"

I don't have my TRX4 yet but I'm working on a Axial Kaiser body. Specs say 12" wb, but it is closer to 12.5" and a little over 8" wide. It is going to be a pretty good fit!"thumbsup"
Ernie

It won't fit all the way down on my ascender because of the winch but the ascender is at 12.5"

Working on weathering the body, I still have a ways to go.

I'm liking those Ascender Curries with DLux brass knuckles. Sexy indeed.

Re: what other bodies have you guys been running?

The k5 ascender body is almost a perfect fit for the wheelbase as I dropped one on at hobby town yesterday. Anything that fits wb4 on the ascender should be doable....

Proline toyota Hilux

Did a bunch of trimming on the bed to fit right and be flush with the slider. Also flipped the bumper mounts for better approach angles

Wow, this looks good! Any chance you could show us more details of what you did in the bed area? I'd love to see a top-down/overhead look. I've never owned a Proline Hilux body so I don't know what the bed looks like and what potential it has for modification.

Also, do the tires tuck up into the body?

Ill be try a PL Topkick with Vaterra K10 Rear cage. maybe 66 Chevy from proline depends on what the budget holds after buying the truck $599.99 CND is alot of my budget

I think I'd like to try the Summit Apocalypse body. My priority would be to keep the inner fenders and all bracing. I can even use the Summit exo cage for strength.

i'd really like to see how that turns out. rover body on the summit looks cool, hoping the opposite swap works as well.

Do you have this body to measure wheelbase and stuff that would be a really cool build!

Wheelbase is 13.1 inches or 333mm. Stock TRX4 is at 12.8 so a little adjustment on the rear links should do it. Won't even need a new driveshaft.

ubernewb 06-14-2017 12:51 AM

Re: what other bodies have you guys been running?

believe one of the positions for the shock towers puts you at 336mm? i believe you just flop the mounts side for side and you're done. i know that doesn't change wheelbase, but along with adjusting links it would keep your shocks close to verticle

Found a local guy selling a brand new great looking Summit body for super cheap so I had to snatch it up. Even if I decide to go with the Apocalypse body, at least I have the exo cage to swap right over. Everything is looking great dimensionally. Shorter rear with a bit longer front but will still be inside the front bumper. Wheelbase is a perfect match with more opening for even bigger tires if I want. The Summit body is also not as tall for lower CG which is a plus. I'm going to start working on it right away and will report back with pics.

I have come to find out that most scx10.2 bodies will fit the trx4. Getting the proline bug body and nukizer.

scx10.2 bodies fit, but shrinking the wheelbase on the trx-4 to match those bodies takes some work. eventually traxxas will release their kits or whatever, but that might not be for quite a while.

Just got a trx4 last night so naturally I had to see what other bodies fit. The proline 66f100 intended for a tmaxx fits nicely other then I need to make new rear links to get it out to 13" where I like my wb to be. I'm liking that proline hilux body i may get one of those as wellhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0d5463c82b.jpg

I run most of my crawlers at 13" wb or real close to that. I like to do big climbs and the longer wb is needed.

I'm not sure what chassis you have . But I tried this proline 72 body on my Ascender . It works for me , very little trimming . Mainly around the wheels . I still want to lower the shocks but just haven't made time to do so .

You most likely could run it at the stock wb with this body but I cut the fenders to work with a 13" wb which I prefer to run. The body I mocked up is from one of my other trucks. Next time I strip the trx down I'll get some pics

To shorten the wheel base to 12.5" you will need to get at least 8 revo rod ends. Dlux Fab
Just replace the stock rod ends with these and it will shorten your wheel base to where you need it. (They are just a little shorter than the stock ones". If you wanted to go to 12.3 you would do the same on the front also. If you wanted to stretch the wheel base you would use the Jato rod ends.
I have my truck set up for 2/3 droop so when fully compressed they rub a little, but nothing that would hamper performance."thumbsup
Hope that helps you out.;-);-)

Re: what other bodies have you guys been running?

The Axial XJ body is a great fit for the longer wheelbase TRX. In fact, I had to add Jato rod ends to the front of my 10.2 and extend the rear links a bit to correct the short wheelbase to fit the XJ body as many found out when they bought the 10.2 kit. For some reason the XJ body was designed for 12.5-12.8 inch wheelbase and they kept the 10.2 at 12.3
Axial confuses the hell out of me sometimes.

I had been thinking that Revo ends might be the easy answer to shortening the wheelbase some but never actually measured to see how much shorter it would get. Good to know that you can get down to a 12.5 inch wheelbase with just a rod end swap. "thumbsup"

i do not have the inner fenders on this body. if i feel ambitious, when i paint a new blazer body, i might try and attach the fenders before paint... but we shall see... I will say, i usually run wheel wells (DIY tupperwear ones) and not having them on the blazer body reminded me why... The truck is a mess after every trail run. hahaha

you could always attach the inners to the chassis instead of the body. was actually fairly straight forward

How did and how much did you shorten the wheel base[/QUOTE]

Didn't touch the front suspension, only changed to similar length VP links and standard Traxxas rod ends. Shortened the rear links to 105mm VP links with standard rod ends (made top links longer for better pinion angle)

https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4265/...738dde49_z.jpg

Moved the rear shock towers forward. Luckily it matched up with existing holes in the chassis"thumbsup"
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4279/...9f0dd0ac_z.jpg

Had to remove the battery tray as it no longer fit and made one out of aluminum stock that fits a shorty pack perfectly and is lower than the stock battery position.

battery tray no longer fit? curious, as i shrunk my rig a few mm's smaller than yours and had zero issues with the battery tray being there. (shock mounts on shortest factory option, and 102mm revo rods/rod ends)
