Titan 12 vs 21 So I have a titan 12 I pulled off my stampede. Do you think it would make my trx4 a tad quicker? I can sacrifice a bit of pull as I live in the keys with not much terrain. The 12 should be plug n play right? Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk |

It will also draw more amps and create more heat which is why it make sense that the motor limit listed would be the minimum # of turns and not the maximum. Part of that limit they list could also be because they rate the TRX to use 3s and in other Traxxas vehicles using 3s with the Titan 12T that they ALL come with.. they don't last very long. makes more sense to go brushless at that point. When I see the TRX4 bouncing around and wagging left to right at speed, making it go faster isn't the first thing that comes to mind. So many better options for a fast scale truck ie. Axial Yeti Score or Losi Baja Rey. Get your tools and and wallet ready though if you want them to be reliable at 30mph, at least the yeti lol. And if you like Traxxas there are so many different models of Slash, if you think you are going to be into fast vehicles just get the brushless version straight away. If you want a fast scale looking vehicle that can go 30mph+ and still respectably crawl over obstacles and rocks then check out the Yeti Rock Racer or the Losi Rock Rey, with the right mods you can really do everything with those but it still won't be as good a crawler or come with the trick features that the TRX4 comes with stock. I am mentioning those two brands only because its what I have experience with not because that's all that's out there just wanted to clarify. Also I find that beating a hard obstacle driving the TRX-4 slow is just as satisfying to me but maybe I'm getting old. Good question for 1st post! Also don't give up on finding some terrain! It could be as simple as a drainage ditch filled with riff raff (rocks) can make a cool spot to drive. |
Re: Titan 12 vs 21 Yeah I wasn't looking to make it 30 mph. I think stock hi speed is like 7 mph, I was looking more for 10mph or a tad over. Not much more just a little. I haven't tried 3s yet, all my lipos are 2s. I guess that could be my next try. Thanks guys. |
Re: Titan 12 vs 21 A 2200 30C 3S Turnigy Blue lipo is about $16; grab a couple as the truck will do about 20km/h. It's fine for this truck. 12T will cook itself and the ESC. Now the thing that I took from the 2nd post was ESC: 18A continuous and 100A peak. Are these values correct? A HW 80 is 80A continuous and 400A peak. The Traxxas ESC is certainly an egg cooker and these awful specs potentially confirm why. |

Re: Titan 12 vs 21 Holy crap! Lucky we didn't get their less fancy non HV version with the 14A continuous draw...ha! HW 1080 here I come! Wow, those spec's after from yesteryear...did Traxxas honestly thing that was fine???? You know, I drove my TRX4 around my living room (in low gear with unlocked diffs) at a babies crawling speed (so not crazy slow mind) on the flat with the ambient temp at about 15C and the ESC got to 37C inside 10 minutes. I kid you not. 37C on floor boards just cruising around doing nothing. Imagine in 35C summer weather crawling rocks...yikes... |

Re: Titan 12 vs 21 It's spinning freely. Just an 18A ESC at work. I knew it was suspect when my Bomber runnin high gear did the same crawling as the Traxxas in low gear and the Traxxas got nice warm and the Bomber was cold to the touch. |
