Temporary light bar using flashlight

I've been holding out waiting for Traxxas to come out with a lighting kit. In the mean time I've found a pretty great temporary alternative. A simple flashlight/worklight, it has a clip on the back that can be use to mount the light to the front face of the roof rack. I Told a buddy who's into RCs to look for what I had changed and I had to point it out to him, in gray it blends in good.

Its a Nebo pocket worklight or a Larry light, and there are many similar lights like it. I imagine some of you reading this might have one.


Simply slide the clip over the front of the roof rack from the side and aim it. I had zip tied it originally but that was overkill as its yet to fall off.

I know its a lot more weight than should go up this high but its temporary and my truck is heavy as all hell.

Nice use of what you have around/inexpensive, reminds me of my auxilary led flashlight strapped to the roof of my Honcho at Axialfest for the tunnel, just in case lol.

Yeah that's probably a lot lighter too, you might even be able to clip it onto the bar thats the farthest forward which should cast less of a shadow in front of the truck. The light I have uses 3 AA batteries so its pretty weighty and it casts a decent sized shadow in front of the truck since its set back a bit.

I've repurposed LEDs from a ballcap too and other places, sometimes i'll steal the powersource. Its a good way to think in general.. I put mine in my Yeti Score front headlight buckets and made white holders for the LEDs inside the buckets by cutting this white plastic tube I found inside a pen it all worked.. it wasn't waterproof so when the truck got wet and the lights were off I could see some voltage was getting to the lights still hehe..

It doesn't look so bad the flashlight thing you made, no doubt it will work if you actually drive when its getting dark you can tell the orientation of the truck better and see where your driving. That's why I needed lights on the Yeti but with the TRX I didn't even wire up my light bar.. its too bright and annoying for actual use to me.. even at just 6v but mostly because I'm never far enough away from it to track of its orientation
