| 3D Printed Goodies for the TRX-4
I just thought I'd share some of the 3D printed items I've picked up for the TRX-4 so far. I'm new to 3d printed parts and I'm kind of nerding out going a bit overboard trying out parts. So far I'm impressed, but I'm convinced not to buy a printer as Shapeways has way way better machines and they get much better results with stronger materials than I could ever expect on my budget. I really see no need to have a 3d printer when you can just design stuff and have it printed professionally. Anyway the first few do away with a few of the stickers, all but the windows, license plate and badges. Gas filler from Knight Customs I made a template to cut out the shape and a hole reamer to do the top radius, start with the reamer then cut the rest, it helps keep it aligned. Glued in place with shoe goo, I chose to paint the cap silver with some Tamiya TS-17 paint Door handles from Knight customs Again using the hole reamer to make the holes to mount these. Measure carefully and try to keep the reamer from wandering off center. Theres one body clip that holds the door handles in and a peg on the other end, glued with shoe goo. This is how they mount Hood vents from Knight customs I made another template to cut these out which I was able to align with the hood crease and flip to use on both sides after removing the snorkel. I use an Exacto knife to score the cutout and scissors to break the center loose piece by piece. A side view with all the Knight customs parts Low CG battery tray from BowHouse RC Super easy to install, it uses the same factory mount points. just dont overdo tightening the screws. Combined with the rear crossmember from BowHouse RC Again factory mounts and go easy on the screws, you don't have to kill em. This allows for a slightly longer battery (5 1/2") than when using the low CG battery tray and stock rear crossmember. I think you're stuck needing a shorty pack without it. The last one isn't a TRX-4 specific part I just thought it fit in great on the back gate of the truck. Its a first aid kit from Scale By Chris I used 3 little M2 screws to attach it from the back side of the gate frame. One I forgot was the GoPro/Action cam mount from Ennotech Designs LLC Its mounted using zip ties Last edited by HumboldtEF; 08-04-2017 at 10:29 AM. |

Very nice! I've been eyeing up a few of those parts myself. Hows the CG with go-pro mounted? My fear would be it making the truck pretty top heavy. |

| Re: 3D Printed Goodies for the TRX-4 I does make it a bit more top heavy, I've rolled it a handful of times already with it on. Although I have it shown with the camera on the top, you can flip it so the camera is lower, thats how they show it installed on the Shapeways page.

Theres a few cools Scorched Parts Land Rover Items, designed fir the Raffee body, but will work great on the TRX4 too. Highly detailed fuel filler and slotted door handles: Also, the military style number plates and high detail Jerry can and Steel printed rack: Last edited by Dbx; 08-17-2017 at 03:17 PM. |

| Re: 3D Printed Goodies for the TRX-4 It would be better to mount it inside the body, with a peep-hole cut into the fake-windshield area. That way the camera would be completely protected from rollovers.

I just did a quick check of the fitment using both the Traxxas light bar and the GoPro mount and it does just squeeze in there and you'll only need zip ties on the bottom now. You just need to bend the cage a bit as you slide it in. Top side That's a cool idea, Though I think I'll just take the camera off when I want better performance. This camera can take rollovers pretty well too, I mostly worried about scratching the lense. Last edited by HumboldtEF; 10-22-2017 at 07:27 PM. |

| Re: 3D Printed Goodies for the TRX-4 yeah for all I care the camera is sacrificial, I'm not about to slice open a peep hole. Or do you mean the mount itself? I always take it off when its not in use.
