| My TRX-4 occasional stuff.
Well, my pack servo extensions came in and I finally was able to make servos easy to switch out. There was a heck of a mess of wires inside there as I had seen before. I did not like the thought of having to open the radio box each and every time I want to pull a servo out, no need to open it for binding however as there is a plug on top for that. The servo leads I used were 10cm ones, I could have gotten away with shorter ones but these were cheap. I also purchased a tube of dielectric grease like Traxxas uses to seal the receiver box. There were two sizes at my local Napa, a tiny tube for $4 or this once for $6 which is well over 10 times the amount. I guess I will be set for a time or two I used some shrink wrap to shorten a couple of servo leads so they would tuck in nicely and superglued the ends of the servo extensions together in the same order that they plug in on the receiver to keep things simple. It is a little bit messier setup but a whole lot easier to deal with now. Chris Last edited by clm; 08-08-2017 at 01:27 PM. |

Thank you. Yeah the ability to easily pull out any servo wire and easily disconnect it from the receiver was the plan, none of the wires are actually bound up with any other wire just neatly stacked. Stock they are a serious rats nest inside that box! |

I had the two extensions for esc and aux wire but Im gonna do this now. All of these servo issues have caused me to go into the 'rats nest' more times than I care to remember . Give us an update soon;I need some new hacks to steal from you Great job clm |

My next hack on the TRX will probably require drilling a small hole and some silicone sealent. I am working my way up to remounting the antenna in the antenna mount actually built into the receiver box... yeah I know seems nuts to use the antenna mount that comes off when you unbolt the receiver box but... I am a rebel! ;) Well that and I didn't like installing and removing the grub screw to pull the antenna out of the slider. The box seems to be a TRX-4 specific part? And has a molded in antenna mount. I wonder if the designer forgot how short the 2.4ghz receivers antenna was.. hmm |

Well next part of my epic pointless cheap mods. I still need to replace the steering servo... Someday. I dug through my wiring box in my garage and came up with a mangled pack of automotive wiring labels, I used these to number the servo leads 1 through 5 incase I pull them apart and forget which orientation they go in. Only put a 1 and a 5 on the extension ends as, well, if I can't work out which ones are 2 3 and 4 I probably shouldn't be working on these After that I got cracking on relocating the antenna, after unscrewing it from the slider and unscrewing the lid I worked out where best to put the hole. I decided the rubber bind plug would be best as it should keep water out better then a hole drilled in rigid plastic... It seems better this way, at least now 2 screws and it comes off as a unit. Oh, I also picked up a beater body. I originally picked it up to put on the HG P402, but the wheelbase on that is too short so I put it on the TRX. I only had to drill two body mount holes for the back and adjust body mount heights a little to make it go on. I should have made it sit a hole or two lower but I was unwilling to cut the rear body mount. Chris |

Nice idea with the antenna, they did stick it in an odd spot.

The odd thing was they molded in an antenna mount on the slider and the receiver box, both which seem to be trx-4 only parts... why two?
