Default Strange first break

Not sure if it was me using a 1/4 in ratchet to tighten the wheel nuts. Or just from a hard hit on the wheel. But here it is. Never thought I'd break a wheel hex like that.

The hexes are sintered, in which case no surprise that it split like that if you were possibly over-tightening it with a ratchet.

I've had that happen with pot metal hexes before. That's why traxxas made those pretty blue aftermarket ones

You realize this is an RC car, no need to torque these to 100ftlbs. Even a 1/4 ratchet is just too much torque.

That said, plenty of upgrade options out.

It happens, athough I just go for stripping the threads out instead of cracking them all together hehe.

But, put the ratchet back in the tool box. For a wheel I just go hand tight with the cross wrench and then give it a snug grabbing the cross wrench with a pair of pliers. I must have broke three or four of the little wheel bolts on my gmade rims putting those together before I learned that once they stopped moving they were done moving.

I have been looking for some aftermarket aluminum hexes but I'm not sure which ones fit the TRX4. Any recommendations? Will SCX10 II hex drives work?
