XL5HV ESC question Does anyone know the voltage coming from the accessory lighting plug on the TRX4 XL5HV ESC? Has anyone heard of plans for Traxxas to release a light kit for the TRX4? Thanks. |
Re: XL5HV ESC question The accessory plug is directly wired to the battery plug so.. full battery voltage as long as a battery is plugged in. And I have not yet heard of a lighting kit from Traxxas, but I assume when they do they will be small flat surface mount pcb led lights as the built in light buckets have spaces for those. |
Re: XL5HV ESC question that's called a jst style plug, it goes direct to the battery. It's also always hot when you have a battery plugged in, whether or not the esc is powered on. the voltage will be whatever your battery voltage is. ahh clm beat me by a minute. also what he said ^ I have my steering servo plugged in there"thumbsup" |
Re: XL5HV ESC question Thats the perfect BEC power tap. |

Some members have mentioned that while talking with Traxxas customer support and asking about light kits that there were a few responses, one said no the other said they cant say anything but It'll be worth the wait or something along those lines. I'm holding out on getting the other kits in hopes that Traxxas has a nice affordable kit coming. |
Re: XL5HV ESC question Yeah, I'm holding out too. There are some 3D printed solutions out there. One I looked at was 75 bucks. Seems high for some light buckets and LEDs. I'm sure Traxxas will be cheaper. |
Re: XL5HV ESC question From what others have said I've picked up on is traxxas has not officially said anything about a releasw date yet, but soon, when is soon? I've seen a nice lighting kit from powershift rc that looks good. |
Re: XL5HV ESC question Thanks guys. The accessory plug works great with an old Tamiya light controller we had lying around. Just needed to add a JST plug to it. |
Re: XL5HV ESC question Yup I've tested it when I first got mine. It's direct pack voltage and as mentioned it is live at all times a better is plugged in. I added a micro Deans plug for my BEC from it when I still ran the XL5. |

Re: XL5HV ESC question I have my winch powered from that JST tap. Might make up a Y and also run my lights from it. |
Re: XL5HV ESC question I hate bumping an old thread but it's better than starting a new one, so... I have a SHV500 v2 on the way for my TRX4. I'm running the XL5 ESC and rather than soldering direct to battery leads, can I just plug it directly into the JST connector coming from the ESC? |

From what I am reading you should be able to plus if I read right the servo already comes with the connector |
Re: XL5HV ESC question Yep It comes with a jst plug as well as the standard rx plug. I've searched youtube but in the few vids that are out there, everyone is soldering the servos power lead direct to the battery. Wasn't able to find anyone using this particular servo with the XL5. Thank you, man. |
Re: XL5HV ESC question I use the hv500 direct from the already installed jst Plug, using the Holmes rx Bypass which U didn't need with the shv500. I measured it and it's direct connected to the battery. Send by my Pixel 2 XL with Tapatalk |
Re: XL5HV ESC question Awesome! I had briefly wondered when I was ordering the servo, if I was going to need the HH bypass but it looked like it wasn't needed. Still learning about all the electronics & battery stuff with these rigs so big thanks for the assistance and patience... Very much appreciated. |
