| Binary TRX-4 modified build
Working on something a bit more comp ready. Don't get me wrong the stock has done me well at big and local comps so far, but there's always better! Brazin Scale RC Team Edition chassis in G10 and a SMW/Y-Town Crawlers skid plate. Next steps is the plate to adapt it to the skid perfectly. Then to figure out a motor mount, might be modifying the stock set up, but it's possible it might be a custom motor plate. If only I had access to machines, right now it's dremel and drill work which should get me close enough for a 3D cad which could be printed or machined. |

Well the next issue was trying to stuff the trans in. There came a problem. The trans itself is nice and small and will fit. The problem is the spur mounting and covers. I can deal no cover, but that’s what holds the motor and contains a chunk of the front piece of the skid I don’t need, I decided to hunt for another option. Until I can figure out how to CAD better to model a new piece then have it made, I just couldn’t let this stall. So the goal was to get first gear with the 9T pinion and 45T Spur ratios to work. Turns out the pinion spur is 5:1. Then the 2 gears handling 1st are 2:1, for a ratio of 10:1 I would need to remain similar speeds but could change pinions some to adjust. I thought Axial, but it’s kind of big and costly (Supershafty) to be bombproof. I thought Vatera and MST but they were huge and would need more work like the stock trans. But then I remember Dlux offered berg gear based tiny transmissions. Sent off a PM looking for a 10:1, and boom Erik was quick and had it worked out that the Ham Berger would do it. It’s tiny, great gears (I chose the Dlux SAF gears. Add in a 17T pinion and I’ll be at 9.88:1 which will be a perfect start and I’ll adjust from there. Also swapped the SMW skid for the time being to a Vader Products Monkey skid. It’s got more meat now to handle the Ham Berger skid mounting. Though that SMW isn’t ruled out. Pics of the trans, the heat and football limited much more progress. |

No real updates as I've been waiting on these to arrive to handle the trans mount to the new skid plate. Also another skid plate on the way to review it. |
