I'm looking to get the Castle brushless setup, but want to make sure I'm getting the correct KV motor. I'm assuming most are running 3S? Would like to keep stock gearing, but try to keep close to the same speed, don't mind just a bit more speed.

| Re: Trx brushless systems A 2200-2300KV motor would be roughly equal to the stock motor in terms of top end speed.

I actually called CC when I was looking to buy my ESC and motor. They recommended the Mamba X and 1406-2280 Slate motor for the TRX4.

I run 3S Mamba X and the Slate 2850 motor. I have a sensored 3800 castle sitting on my shelf. However the TRX4 is so too heavy it doesn’t make sense for me to drive fast. The 2850 with stock gearing is about all the rig can handle. I have the D110 so it may be a different story with a different body. I have also added about a pound of weight to the axles and chassis to lower the COG. Other than exposing the relative weakness of the stock servo the 2850 handled it fine, even when running in second gear and crashing around. |

Great idea tying the aux wire to the shift servo channel! Just finished building the TRX4 kit and am using the stock transmitter/receiver instead of the Spektrum DX4C I use with the rest of my rigs. Because of that I thought I was just out of luck and not going to be able to take advantage of the Mamba X aux wire. Would you be able to provide a pic or two and go into detail on how you wired that up to work? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | |
