Just got a new truck. The tires feel pretty good but the foams feel too soft. Any recommendations for replacements options. Plan on running it in stock form for a while. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ok good question. But without knowing what kind of terrain you're going to be running on it's kind of hard question to ask and answer

Where I drive most run a pretty aggressive tire. Rockbeasts, hyrax and klr’s. Mix of trailing and Light crawling. No comps or sorrca stuff. I guess my real question is whether or not the tires improve much with better foams. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

| Re: Trx4 Tires I am using proline two stage foams with ebay beadlocks and the stock trx4 tires. This alone made a world of difference. The stock foams are way too soft and hinder performance, grip, side hilling ect...

I really like the stock tires. Swapped out foams and put them on some beadlocks and they work really well. |

I actually bought my TRX-4 second hand, and the dirtbag who sold it to me on Ebay ran it in water... and never drained the water out of the tire foams. Anyways, I ended up buying these foams from Crawler Innovations: They're for a size bigger rim if you want to get picky about it, but they fit the tires perfectly. They're stiffer than the one good stock foam I have (the spare didn't get wet, lol) and as an added bonus, closed-cell foam won't rot if it gets wet. I get the feeling that there's not as much air being let through the breather holes in the stock rims, so maybe the foams needed trimmed down a bit... but I mostly trail and hop up tree roots, so it's not a big deal. Let me know if you want me to shoot a video of the tires with new foams. I can at least squeeze the spare and new tire setup side-by-side for you if you like. |

Pro line foams are the new hotness!!!! Very consistently cut, great customer service and great fit and finish Nate taught me how to do the light bulb method for baking off tires and I'll never use another method. just be sure to clean all the excess softened CA glue from the bead.

Boiling worked fine for me too. I just had to remove the remaining glue from the tire bead. After trying it with the fingers gathering many little cuts doing so I used a spoon which worked wonders. And no risk for cutting the tire. Use a towel so you dont burn yourself when pressing out the water |

I put them in a tub of acetone overnight and by morning they fall off the rim with no glue residue.

So is it just a nut and bolt with a plastic spacer for protection on each side?

It's a 4mm bolt with washer, a piece of Delrin that I machined a flange into so it fits snugly in the wheel making it hub centric, and a 4mm serrated nut to cinch it all down. I previously could not mount these tires, until I came up with this tool, it mounted my toughest tire with ease.

So I got the tires off the rims and with the method I used the foams were junk. I was looking at a set of Crawler Innovation foams but come in 4.50 or 4.75 sizes. Now I'm really confused. What size is better suited for the stock TRX4 tires.

I found that the Pro-Line 6173-00 fit these tires much better than the nearest Innovation foam. They filled out the sides offering more support than the CI foams I tried. On the rocks, the single stage works excellent, side hills are as good as it gets for the slightly tippy TRX. They seemed too hard at first but after one run were broken in to be a little softer. IMO they are just right. https://www.prolineracing.com/foam/1...-foam-inserts/ I posted a few comparison pics in this thread. Tires or sponge, degraded? Natedog explains pretty well in this post. So day maybe I or someone can do a how to thread on, as I never take pics during the process due to hands being occupied. Tires or sponge, degraded? .
