Default Rebuilding my trx4.

Hello everyone.
So after getting bored of the land rover body. And finally acquiring a Silverado body. I decided to try to make things work with what I had. My daily driver is a 99 Silverado. Mines only the extended cab but the crew cab will have to do.
Its on the small side as it is. Measuring in with a 10.5" wheelbase at this point. I cut the frame. Moved the shock hoops up as far as I could. Cut holes in the bed to fit them through. Plan on making some coolers in the bed to cover the shocks. Tried cutting the drive shaft down but broke it. And it was really short. Just so happen my revo driveshaft fits perfect. Its very short. The output shafts a bit small so its not centered. Therefore I need to figure something out.

If anyone has any suggestions about a way to narrow my trackwidth as I'd like to run 4.19s on it at some point. And be class one. And I'm way too wide.

Here's some pictures. I'll upload some more tomorrow.

A piece of brass or aluminum rod of proper diamter, cut to length with a hole drilled for screw-pin will center the driveshaft on the output shaft. Nice job fitting a shorter wheelbase hardbody!

Several nice 4.19" or slightly shorter tires available, 1.9, 1.7, 1.55.

Thanks for the tip but I am trying to figure out a rim that brings the tire way in. Because of how narrow my body is.

Ended up trimming the stock driveshaft until it could fit. Seems alright but couldn't drive much with the big tires on it. Too much rub.

Found some rims from motoworx racing. 1.9 9 hole slw max back space wheels. With a .225 hub it should pull the wheel in .475 on each side. The inner beadlock ring will catch the bolts on the portal but I'm going to find a new bolt or something. It only rubs by .03 of an inch if my maths right.

Ordered 4.17 mtzs from rc4wd.

And a wertymade boar bumper. It will need to be trimmed but my old one was a quarter inch narrower than the windshield so I needed more to try to get into class one.

Pretty excited for it to all come together!

So I got everything buttoned up.

Threw a cooler in the back and went to a local comp. The truck did amazing finished with a - 59 from the two courses and first place had - 72 I think.

The bad news is it's just barely too small of a body.. I thought it was close but it looked very small and would've been very hard to get it completely class 1 legal I was about a 1/16" away from having the necessary tire coverage.

They did let me win the woods course because it didn't really matter as much.

However these rims. Worked great, spent probably an hour filing the portals down just enough to suck the rim as far in as possible. Track width is 8.5 in

Love the look too wish they had black in stock but it's okay

Congrats on the win, truck looks good with those wheels and tires! What are you going to do to get C1 legal?

I'm going to give up on the body and go with a clod body with fender flares.
I love this body but don't want people to whine about it beating them haha
Thanks though I love the way it drive tires are very nice.

Well after much deliberation I've decided to go back to class 2. Mostly just want to get a move on and am sick of my other class 2.
Was having trouble fitting the mtzs under the clod body with no serious trimming.
So I went with extreme trimming and stuck my klrs under it for now.
But I used eBay fender flares and got a custom grill insert from custom cuts. And used a hilux interior. And a chrome interior detail set from gear head. Pro line tool box outfitted with magnets to latch it.
Body is held on with 3/8 ring magnets from home depot they are pretty beefy hopefully they do the job can pick up the truck by the body without it coming off. And I still have tape over the magnets.
Extended the wheelbase out to 11 inches.
Got a new set of inner fenders to cut to fit the back might not work out because I laid the shocks down to fit under the bed so might need to make custom ones. And I need a new set of floor pans.
Might make some so I can attach my sliders to it. Anyway here's a few pictures of what ive got going so far.

Got some brass.
Ssd outers all the way around and yeah racing inners on the front.
Getting some new tires think I'm going to go with the 2.2 mtzs that are exactly 4.75 and beefy.

Threw some paint down, remembered how much I hate and suck at painting. Pictures make it look decent though.
Got a cowl hood from powershift rc.
Waiting on sliders and a bumper. And it should be driveable.

I realized that I really needed a rollbar before I screw up this body too too bad after all the time I have into it. So I dont have easy access to a welder. And I had some 1/4 in rod and some 3/4 aluminum stock laying around. So I drilled some holes and JB welded it together. Hopefully it holds up. Painted it with truck bed liner too

Got my 2.2 rims. Just cheapies but they go together very nice and you can replace the rings. And also got the 2.2 rc4wd mickey Thompson mtzs.

Also got daredevil in the cab with a cooler full of beer and one in his hand. Hell yeah lol

So I haven't driven my truck since I put all the brass on, but I did notice my turning seemed to stop sooner than it did before.
The inner portal covers I have from yeah racing have so much meat to them they hit earlier than the originals.

So I had to file the c hub and portal cover down to get the turning radius back.

Long story short I would not recommend the yeah racing portal covers.

Only reason I got them is my friend owed me money and had ordered two sets on accident. He also has the brass chubs from mfr and said those made his turning even worse than mine. Not sure if that is only because of the inner portal cover or not.

However. The outers made by ssd are gorgeous!

Rollbar and front bumper with light bar got installed.
Custom width bumper from scalerfab.
Sliders were the wrong size so im waiting on new ones. They have great customer service!

Not very scale but threw the monsters head that came with daredevil in the bed too for fun.

Got my sliders and they look great. My original idea for a battery location won't work so I'm going to order a bowhouse low cg battery tray. Other than that and some leds and a winch controller, I think shes pretty much done.

The truck looks great! Got some nice flex there!

I did the same, I only put the portal weights in the front of mine too. I was being cheap and felt the front really needed some extra pull down in the front, so I only got one set to begin with and I think I'm staying there.
