You're welcome. One of these sweet Protek LIHV packs (that had only been charged at lipo setting, my oversight) outlasted two Turnigy 2200mah 3S HD batteries by over 30 minutes

Found a firmer block of foam I like better. Again, glued to the battery strap with E6000.

Put Gorilla tape over the screw heads in the bottom corner.

Can also reverse the battery strap and run the full size 4100 mAh lipo. The battery spans the lowered portion where the shorty battery goes.

Pretty handy to still be able to use the full size lipo. It's brand new. So it will be fine to use when not trying to get serious max crawling ability...like on a trail run.

Awesome journey with your TRX4 sammyha!
What's your average trail time with that shorty pack? I need a new pack and that Protek looks like a good option.
Where in northern WI are you? I'm down in Madison.

Thanks for the kind words... I'm up north, outside of Ashland, ten miles south of Lake Superior. I just got mine, so I don't know yet.

Read Natedog's reply a couple of posts up. Sounds like an awesome battery.

Ah yes, I know Ashland well. I have a buddy that moved up to Bayfield and now runs the Bodine fishery. We get up there once in a while in the summer. You have any go to places to run up there?

Thanks for the battery info, I think I might have to pick one up.

I actually just got back into trucks. Still do helis and planes. I've built a small rock course on my property. Ran one small creek late last year. Need to explore more areas. So, no I don't know of any place or of anyone else running trucks up here.

I have my own RC flying field tho. Pretty nice spot...

Wow, I'm jealous! I have a 1/4 acre lot in the city and would like to have something with more land on the edge of the city. I would then build a little RC mecca.
When are you putting the race track in?
Just air and crawlers? Any go fast ground stuff?

Oh yeah, If I'm muddying up your thread with the conversation, just let me know I can get back to the TRX4.

Yeah, I've got a E Revo TRX 1/16 monster truck. My oldest boy has been bugging me to build a track. He's the one in the Heli photo, said if I build a track he'd get back into trucks.

Here's a YouTube link of what I've been up to with the E REVO...

We might be a little off subject here, but it is RC, hehe...

It's not a problem by me...the moderators might say something, idk.

With thirty acres in the country I can pretty much do whatever. It's a lot of work and upkeep to build tracks and rock crawling course tho.

Looks great, I like the headlight covers!

I picked up one of those Protek shorty silicone graphene batteries and I really like it. It was great for the size, so I picked up another. We only had a half inch of snow on the ground two weekends ago and I got to get a nice hike in with the truck/battery. I got around an hour of about 50/50 1st and 2nd gear running from the pack.

I also used part of your battery tray mod and cut out the sides of the smaller/lower section of the battery tray. Now, my shorty Protek pack sits in the lower part of the tray and I need some foam to hold it all down. Thanks for the idea.

I hope you're staying warm up there!

That's some decent run time! Warmer weather is coming, supposed to get some upper twenties to lower thirties by the end of this week. Hopefully done with single digit to sub zero weather.

Crawling on my rock course. I managed to get in an early season video shoot. I'm quite pleased with the TRX 4's performance...

Awesome build brotha! Totally digging all the details. Your build has helped me through my truck bed mod along with a couple other build threads (pics on my thread). I'm now finishing my cage modification & I was wondering what adhesive you used to connect cage rods end to end? I'm using a piece of guitar string in the center of the rod, but I don't want a bunch of discoloration at the joints from the wrong glue. Any advice is very much appreciated. Have a great day!

AnimalHippie, sorry for the late reply. Been busy with other things(responsibilities...ugh). I used super glue. Medium, just enough to fill the gap.

Here's something I've pondered awhile. Water proofing the receiver for the Warn winch. E6000 again...
