I successfully modified the battery tray. This is a sweet one! I believe it puts the battery in the same position as the 3D printed tray. Remove all the hardware... Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk Last edited by sammyha; 01-23-2018 at 09:10 PM. |

Make the following cuts using just the blade of a hacksaw. This is tough plastic. Use the inside of the tray as a guide for all these cuts. It cuts better pulling the blade towards you with the teeth towards you also. Make sure you make the first cut on the front of the tray. The posts for the screws that go thru the frame should be oriented in the back. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk Last edited by sammyha; 01-24-2018 at 05:37 AM. |

Cut both sides of the cut you just made to the inside wall. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk |

Make a starter slot from the inside with the end of the blade. Again, pulling the blade. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk Last edited by sammyha; 01-23-2018 at 09:24 PM. |

After you get the blade thru, cut to both ends. Only cut the along the length of the lowered part of the tray. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk Last edited by sammyha; 01-23-2018 at 10:04 PM. |

Make the same cut on the other side. It should look like this. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk |

From the FRONT, cut as shown to the back, again, only in the lowered part of the tray. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk |

Using a #11 Exacto blade, cut both side pieces off. I found if you hold pressure and gently rock the blade, it cuts fairly easy. Now the bottom is freed from the tray, but still attached in the back. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk |

I then installed the tray in the truck and measured how low it can be dropped. A full 1/2 inch drop will still clear the links and drive shaft at full compression. Shown with one of the scrap side pieces. Just using it to hold a 1/2 inch drop for the photo. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk Last edited by sammyha; 01-23-2018 at 10:17 PM. |

I made an aluminum angle and thru bolted it. I sized it for the 1/2 inch drop. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk |

Tray installed in the truck. I kept the function of the stock battery clamp intact using a piece of foam glued on with E6000. I give this clamp two thumbs up, it works, it's quick and it's handy... Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk |

There you are. I've been thinking about this one for awhile. A mod that truly only costs a little time and effort... And if you screw it up? Buy a new tray... Or buy a 3D printed one... Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk Last edited by sammyha; 01-23-2018 at 10:08 PM. |

Thanks Natedog for the complements, and for the feedback. I guess my biggest question is how they compare in capacity to a 4100 mAh pack? I'll find out for myself, but it will be awhile for a long run in the heat. I'm in northern Wisconsin so we have a lot of winter ahead still. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk |
