I successfully modified the battery tray. This is a sweet one! I believe it puts the battery in the same position as the 3D printed tray.

Remove all the hardware...

Make the following cuts using just the blade of a hacksaw. This is tough plastic. Use the inside of the tray as a guide for all these cuts. It cuts better pulling the blade towards you with the teeth towards you also.

Make sure you make the first cut on the front of the tray. The posts for the screws that go thru the frame should be oriented in the back.

Cut both sides of the cut you just made to the inside wall.

Make a starter slot from the inside with the end of the blade. Again, pulling the blade.

After you get the blade thru, cut to both ends. Only cut the along the length of the lowered part of the tray.

Make the same cut on the other side. It should look like this.

From the FRONT, cut as shown to the back, again, only in the lowered part of the tray.

Do this to both sides. Here's how it should look.

Using a #11 Exacto blade, cut both side pieces off. I found if you hold pressure and gently rock the blade, it cuts fairly easy.

Now the bottom is freed from the tray, but still attached in the back.

I then installed the tray in the truck and measured how low it can be dropped. A full 1/2 inch drop will still clear the links and drive shaft at full compression. Shown with one of the scrap side pieces. Just using it to hold a 1/2 inch drop for the photo.

I cut a radius in this back corner for wire clearance.

I made an aluminum angle and thru bolted it. I sized it for the 1/2 inch drop.

Here's a couple of views of what it should look like, with the hardware reinstalled.

Tray installed in the truck. I kept the function of the stock battery clamp intact using a piece of foam glued on with E6000.

I give this clamp two thumbs up, it works, it's quick and it's handy...

There you are. I've been thinking about this one for awhile. A mod that truly only costs a little time and effort...

And if you screw it up? Buy a new tray...

Or buy a 3D printed one...

This 3600mAh battery fills the void and gives scalers a higher capacity option that produces more voltage and longer runtimes than a 2200mAh, yet only weighs approximately 20 grams more! Plus, when charged at LiHV specs this battery produces 13.05V, instead of the standard 12.6V of a fully charged standard LiPo."

Amain Hobbies has them...

I like the slightly higher voltage. Also has an even flatter discharge curve...

"Lab testing has shown that ProTek R/C Silicon Graphene packs have more than double the cycle life when charged at 1C rates, and can be charged at higher amp rates, with less risk of damage to the pack. More importantly, the discharge curve is flatter, meaning the cells maintain higher voltage throughout the discharge cycle. Additionally, when compared to conventional LiPo batteries Silicon Graphene batteries are lighter, providing a higher capacity per gram ratio. With 11.4V nominal voltage, 100C discharge ratings, incredibly high charge rates and increased power."

Perfect.
Yes, I am. Best battery to date, love em, just had to swap plug out to XT60!

Thanks Natedog for the complements, and for the feedback. I guess my biggest question is how they compare in capacity to a 4100 mAh pack?

I'll find out for myself, but it will be awhile for a long run in the heat. I'm in northern Wisconsin so we have a lot of winter ahead still.
