| Zero offset front bumper mount.
I have a situatuion with my Vaterra Ascender Blazer body where I would like to find a zero offset front bumper mount with the 43mm spacing. If I install the TRX4 front mount in the stock position the bumper is too low and if I flip the mount 180deg the front bumper is too high. I'm wondering if someone who owns both a TRX4 and SCX10 II could confirm if the SCX10 II front mount will fit the TRX4 frame rails. Here is a pic of my bumper with the front mount rotated 180 from stock and how the bumper fits a bit high relative to the body. A zero offset bumper mount would put the bumper about 1/8" lower which would be perfect. Thanks! Last edited by Inspector86; 01-11-2018 at 08:28 PM. |

I just bought a vanquish with cms mount for this same purpose, I will be mounting my winch to the cms so it is behind the grille so I can use a better approach front bumper like my 1:1

I can confirm that the SCX10.2 Bumper mount is the same width as the TRX4. |

Thanks but that's not what I need. I know that the actual bumper mount spacing is the same 43mm. What I need to know is if the SCX10.II bumper mount will fit on the TRX4 frame rails. Again, I'm looking for a zero offset front mount not the offset front mount of the stock TRX4.

To report back. The mount the hobby shop sold me is for an SCX not an SCX 2 at least according to the tag... However the bumper mount spacing is the same as the TRX4. The mount is slightly narrower than the frame rails on the TRX4 ,1 to 2 MM The mount is slightly smaller height wise than the rails, also 1 to 2 MM The mount is longer than the TRX4 mount where it bolts through the frame (mind you mine has the cms mounts and could be longer than the plastic version) So at least the mount I have will work no problem with a little modification to the mount, I am going to go back to the hobby shop and see how much different a 2 mount is than the one I got and see if it will work better. If this is all confusing I will get pics after work today and post. Last edited by jhghah; 01-12-2018 at 11:15 AM. Reason: delete edit... |

I don't know if this is relevant. However in mounting a bumper to a scx10 style build I needed a 1/8 inch drop. I was using a VP CMS bumper mount and what I ended up doing was putting the bumper mounting legs under the bumper mount, then ran a long 3mm screw though the bumper mount holes. I happened to be using a proline bumper so I was also able to replace those legs with delrin tube so that I could get an exact position(in/out).

I just happen to have both and the SCX10.2 front bumper mount does fit with a bit of trimming. The TRX4 mount uses 4 screws to mount to the frame rails while the SCX10.2 only uses 2, you can probably just drill 2 holes and if needed use a nut if if wont take a screw nicely. The location of the mounting holes for the SCX10 is also a bit short of fitting which can be fixed by either stretching the frame rail hole forward or by trimming off the tab that locates the bracket to the frame (the tab is the outermost portion) I took my SCX10.2 bracket and started trimming and snapping some pictures Scale bolt heads need to be trimmed off this rectangular nubbins needs trimming (on bottom) notched in next to the scale bolt heads TRX-4 frame kinks up so this area needs trimming (holding upside down) The SCX10.2 (on top) needs the locating bump trimmed off and this also shows the slightly different mount hole locations finally slides in Last edited by HumboldtEF; 01-12-2018 at 08:25 PM. |

PERFECT! Thank You! That is exactly what I needed to know. Now I just need to order an SCX10.II front mount and I should be set. Thank You again.

He beat me to uploading pics...Damn. LOL Here are some of the mounts I have to show what they are untrimmed. Again mine is the Vanquish cms aluminum scx mount... I do believe I will go buy the plastic version today and save the aluminum for another day. https://i.lensdump.com/i/Y7szz.jpg https://i.lensdump.com/i/Y73wT.jpg https://i.lensdump.com/i/Y7Ktb.jpg Right side up as far as it goes in. https://i.lensdump.com/i/Y7pK7.jpg https://i.lensdump.com/i/Y77fr.jpg Upside down as far as it goies in. https://i.lensdump.com/i/Y7HjF.jpg https://i.lensdump.com/i/Y7lq3.jpg Last edited by jhghah; 01-13-2018 at 08:20 AM. |

| Re: Zero offset front bumper mount.
I have modified an SCX10.II bumper mount as outlined above but there are still some differences that make it a bit less than ideal. Turns out that the TRX4 bumper mount is offset both vertically and horizontally, meaning that in addition to the mounts vertical drop, the TRX4 mount extends horizontally farther forward than the SCX mount which creates a new problem namely that TRX4 bumper mount bars are too short. So I have a product request for those 3D printer parts guys out there. How about making and selling a vertical Zero offset TRX4 bumper mount? Most of the aftermarket bumpers I have found were designed for the SCX10 or SCX10.II which are equipped with vertical zero offset bumper mounts. By making a zero offset bumper mount that fits the TRX4 all these SCX bumpers would fit the TRX4 a little better. Ideally, I would like to see a mount that extends forward the same as the stock TRX4 but has zero vertical offset like the SCX10 mount. Just Sayin.
