Budget bead locks? I know budget and Rc dont go together. But I was wondering if anyone had successfully fit a cheaper pair of beadlocks onto their Trx? I only began to get into crawling about a month ago. And the whole tire vs portal vs inner ring vs outer ring etc etc has me confused as all get out. Ideally, I would like a set of wheels that have the "cover" that hides the nut for a more scale look? Any help is greatly appreciated. |
Re: Budget bead locks? The rc4wd wagon wheels are a fairly cheap option and will clear the portals just need to get the ones with hex adapters not pin drive Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm looking forward to fitting these Gmade plastic beadlocks on mine. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b30bd99e6a.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Budget bead locks? My $50 eBay china aluminum beadlocks have served me very well. Enough to get me wanting more. Has my Proline BFGoodrich Krawler T/A mounted. Quality feels great. http://i68.tinypic.com/10p0evp.jpg |
Re: Budget bead locks? I have the Gmade steelies on mine with the SSD hub adapters. |

Re: Budget bead locks? This is the exact eBay shop I purchased it from back in August. I recently purchased a single for my tailgate spare. He has both USA shipped listing as well as from China. Obviously one will arrive sooner, I like to check his eBay shop. https://www.ebay.com/itm/4Pcs-1-9-Al...item2839cb1657 They have many other styles as well. |

I have a couple of RC4WD stamped steel sets that are great and affordable relative to the VP stuff |
Re: Budget bead locks? SSD Stamped Steels are very nice, and cost effective. I prefer them to the RC4WD since they use SLW hubs. |
Re: Budget bead locks? Thanks for all the help. Going through all the stamped steels now. Trying to get it narrowed down to 2 sets. |
Re: Budget bead locks? RC4WD stamped steel wheels have tighter tolerances, the front and rear halves line up with each other much better, and they are made of better steel stampings that don't bend when mounting up some difficult tires. :) Edit: RC4WD also offers pin drive hubs and hex drive hubs (these are available in different offsets, but I've found the factory hex hub offset has always been just right). |

It was quite a job mounting them, but I like them very much! :) |
Re: Budget bead locks? I prefer Fanquish wheels all over eBay. GMade steelies are better than RC4WD wheels IMO. Example: Gmade 1.9 SR02 beadlock wheels (Semigloss silver) (2) http://cdn3.volusion.com/7z62e.xvk6w...GMA70172-4.jpg |

Re: Budget bead locks? Gmade steel wheels fit great and they are hard to beat for $40. They do weigh about 500 lbs a piece though which can be good and bad. Pretty much any of the steel wheels that use a hex drive are a good option for the TRX4. Many of the cheap wheels on ebay will fit over the portal (some require enlarging the axle hole with a drill), the ones to generally avoid are the ones that use a wide, flat ring (particularly those that use M3 hardware to hold on the ring) on the back side like this: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/08...g?v=1458059368 Any of the faux Vanquish wheels are a pretty safe bet on fitting. |
Re: Budget bead locks? I really like my china clones. Great wheels! "thumbsup" I bought them here https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4732/...d2ff7776_c.jpg https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4365/...01987150_c.jpg and here with stock body and gmade wheels https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4289/...344bc19d_c.jpg |

We're nearly twins! My stock body is on a Gen7 chassis awaiting a choice of new budget headlocks. http://i68.tinypic.com/212vfnl.jpg |
Re: Budget bead locks? So, has anyone used plastic beadlocks on the TRX-4? I got some really great metal SSD wheels, but need to get a few more pairs and would like to go super-budget friendly for those. Plastic seems like an option - they are dirt cheap and won't rust. |
