Arrow Team Raffe co. Heavy Cast Metal Axle Housing

Up for pre order now,

I know, I know another weighted part for the TRX-4 but this is one I had been interested in, and I'm not sure if I've seen any others like this yet. I dont know how reputable Team Raffe co. is, but for the price I took the gamble. They make both front and rear axle housings.

As its described as "cast metal" I'm a bit unsure what the material is. Aluminium? Iron? I dont know.

I know many folks detest metal axle housings but I have to say the only difference I've found is the noise it makes on the rocks, it still slides over the rocks just as good as plastic IMHO. Plus these portal axles do a lot less dragging than a standard one does.

Although I don’t have TRX4, yet still tempted to try out these cast zinc metal axles on my SCX10 II. ANYWAY Good find

Assume the axles are a zinc alloy similar to Boom phat axles. As long as the tolerances are good, should work well!

Ah, I didn't think of Zinc, I dont have much experience with zinc that needs to be sturdy just knobs and pulls for cabinets. Hopefully if its Zinc its strong enough, I'll find out I guess.

We were just discussing metal axle housings here. I have a set of these Team Raffe housing on order. I have seen both cast and machined axle housings for sale on ebay.

Steel and aluminum axle housings?

Just a small update, they've finally released this axle housing but not the diff cover, which raises some red flags. I doubt the carrier bearing fitment will be any good, after all why else would they not release the whole package, something is fishy.

I expected it to be a sub-par item but now I want nothing to do with it.
