Default Suggestions for tires

I have finally received my trx4. I run mostly in the woods (North Carolina) collecting rocks from farm fields around my property. I plan on getting some gmade steelies or China beadlocks for a second set to run in the creeks and mud. I may just leave them on...

Looking for suggestions on a good tire for trail use...woods, logs, roots. I have read about the foam and I am confused (noob) about single stage or duel stage. What is best for mostly trail use? From many of the posts it looks like proline is the way to go, but I am a bit confused what to select..

Thanks for any help.

I use Mad Beast with matching CI single stage foams. I am very happy with them but in the end, the possibilities are almost endless.
Just get tires you like most between 113 mm to max 120 mm and go for it. If you want a very soft foam go for dual stage if you like a bit firmer foam or your rig is very heavy take a single stage foam.

Look around in this section and you will find many topics around tires and foams.

For a stock trx4 steel or aluminum wheels with proline hyrax tires and crawler innovations 2 stage mediun foams and about 6 oz of weight behind grill and go have fun!

I really like the Proline BFG Krawlers, although I do not have a lot of experience in the hobby. I find they are good all around trail/crawling tires.

I just put some Proline Flatiron xl’s with Locked Up Rc bead locks on my trx4. I went with Proline dual stage foams as well. I took it out crawling this morning and was very pleased with them.

Lot of good feedback about the RC4WD Goodyear MTR's in the wheel tire section. I just ordered the 4.19" for my Ascender as I drive in wet/muddy terrain, probably similar to you. My other has Duratrax Deep Woods which are 4.75" and work great.

Keep the stock tires they're great and clear quickly, just plug the 2 holes on the inside of each rim to keep the water out!

I find even the stock tires rub the front of the body shell when turning under some flex. I think 4.6' tires are too big and that is stock! I have some heavily warn Baja Claws that do the same. If they were new there would be a lot more rubbing. :-)

Hyrax or TSL Super Swampers. Best all around trail tires out there.

I use hyrax on SSD Rock racers very pleased with the performance. Just a little Body trimming to eliminate rubbing.

I haven't bought tires yet either. I'm leaning toward the hyrax or Rock Beast xl. I hear that the Rock Beast xl are sticky, but hyrax seems to be getting the best reviews from people.

I have a set of 1.9 Pit Bull Alien Growlers mounted on 2.2 Vanquish Method 105 wheels with CI two stage foams and have found them to be a good all around tire. I also have a set of 1.9 Pit Bull Rock Beast tires mounted on another set of the same wheels. Here is my #1 TRX4.
