Don't even bother SSD

Great stuff as always. Can't wait to see what else you will release down the road.

If the portal axles bother a scale snob then the fact that it's a linked chassis instead of leaf springs in the back and radius arms in the front like the real truck will be a deal breaker.

Cool, unique option for sure. But damn that becomes an expensive chassis compared to the competition! The quality is certainly there, but regardless it’s pricey.

Either way, great job SSD!

I couldn't agree more. The whole point was portals and 2 speeds etc which made the trx so competitive . Crazy.

Sorry I forgot nobody ever changes parts on their trucks after they buy them.

I mean, sure, no one is stopping anyone from making the swap, but with everyone and their grandma releasing a scale crawler recently, Buying a TRX-4 only to turn around and remove it's portals and 2-speed gearing seems like an awfully expensive and roundabout way to build a truck. I think I speak for a lot of folks reading this thread, when I say it's just interesting you chose to release these ahead of other potential products.

Also, any reports of torque twist with these? my understanding is the portal gearing was designed to help reduce a lot of that, so curious to see how it's affected now.

In my opinion, any new axle options are a good thing as long as parts availability ( traxxas) and dependability/ durability are there. It expands the options for custom axle swaps and custom builds. Nice job SSD.

Anyone have these? I’ve been kicking around getting a TRX4 but would rather just have standard (less complex) axles. Was researching to see if SXC10.2 or Ascender axles would work when I found this thread.

You can also buy a trx4 defender , then a delete portal kit, another kit for a single speed and lock spool difs, a sport body. Finally ,sell everything and buy a Tactical.
