NO they are not. Xtraspeed are a budget mostly copy cat brand. Most of their goods are cast alloy parts anyway. Hence why they are cheap. It always amazes me that a lof guys dont know the difference between alloy and steel or aluminum. The "steel" axle housing the cheap brands are selling are zinc alloy. We dont make diff covers for the TRX-4 at the moment because they are too much work for the price they need to be sold at. So not at the top of the priority list. If I'm not so busy one day I will draw some, not any time soon.

There's a lot going on under the cover in the TRX-4's diffs, but still, I like your diff covers and I'd like to be able to buy some for my TRX-4.

I've got the Devil 12x8mm hex hubs but there's nothing special about them.. they work fine/ seem to be machined well. Those CChand diff covers are insanely priced. I guess it's partly b/c of the Defender and Bronco logos but to me they look a little too "showy" and at $56 EACH, there's no way I'd ever get 'em. $112 for a pair of diff covers?? Unless there's some unique performance advantage that I'm missing, they are way too expensive. I grabbed some aluminum alloy covers from Yeah Racing... extremely well made with a seemingly durable finish and they have a really nice design that's angled along the bottom to avoid snagging on obstacles. Fit was perfect. Oh... and $11 each/ $22 pair. |

Those look identical to the KYX diff covers available on eBay.

Any word on aluminum diff covers as of Oct, 2019? Any that should be avoided or perhaps a go-to product for these? Based on what I have seen it the product availability hasn’t changed, has the product quality?

I scored a set up the ARB licensed diff covers a while back. The fit and finish were great, and they've held up well with the usual scrapes and scratches you'd expect. That said, they're bright, anodized red. So if you're looking for understated, these probably are not it. (Edit - looks like JDM74 has them in black. Only red were available when I ordered) I'd also agree that while the aluminum covers probably don't slide quite as well, they darn sure prevent premature leading edge wear at the axle/diff interface. That's one of the primary reasons I've always gone ahead and purchased alu diff covers for my rigs. |

Thanks for the input guys, it sound’s the RC4WD are fitting well. I gather there was some past issues with them which is why I figure I would get clarity. Want to be sure I get the right set, the price on these things is outrageous

There was some issues with some Al covers early on (like, when the Defender TRX-4 came out) binding up the shift mechanism for the lockers but I can't remember which brand they were.

Those were STRC diff covers. I bought a set, experienced the problem myself, contacted STRC, and sent them back. A month later I got a new set in the mail that were modified to eliminate the interference.
