Default Bodies for Bronco 12.3” wheelbase

Trying to figure out best jeep bodies to fit the 12.3 wheelbase that is the stock setup for the bronco chassis. Any tips on which might fit well? Would prefer to stick with the shorter wheelbase setting...

proline has direct fit Jeep for the TRX. it fits the 12.3 wheel prefect but I didnt like the look of the shell so passed on it and went with the Axial XJ body and the wheel base lines up dead on. just need to do some work to get the bumpers to fit correct.

The Proline TRX specific Jeep JK body is for the 12.8" wheelbase trucks, not the Bronco/Kit which are 12.3" wheelbase.

To the original poster, any 12.3" body will work and some 12.0 might be ok in a Jeep base. Proline does make a 12.3" Jeep body, Axial has an XJ, JK/JKU 4 Door.

Thanks. I was wondering if pretty much any of the 12.3 shells for axial SCX10-10 would fit—wasn’t sure if the TRX4 chassis was too wide...

you are correct that proline jeep fits the 12.8 but after playing around with it at the LHS it seems to fit better on the 12.3 but this is just IMHO
played around with the axial jk jeep and its going to need some work to make it fit. I was really hoping that it would as I was my first choice. the axial xj lines up the best and clears the chassis rails in the rear with no problems. also with a little trimming you can still use the fenders with the xj body.

Well, not the jeep, but I think this will fit nicely. I replace defender body with this. Wheelbase have to be shortened. But bronco wheelbase, no problem.

I believe that the major issue with the Bronco chassis for fitting a different body are the inner fenders, i don't want to cut mine

I like them as you can just trim them to fit the next body. With the defender inner fenders I had to mount them and cut them lol. Definitely doesnt fit every build though.

I have first hand experience with the 12.8 JK body. Here's some pics to show the difference.

I have been very pleased with the fit of the Axial SCX10ii Jeep Cherokee body on the Bronco chassis. The front mounts are located exactly where they need to be and it is easy to make a couple of new mount holes on the rear. I did install long JATO rod ends on one end of the four rear links to center the rear axle a little better in the rear wheel well.

This might be a very dumb question but what kind of body is this? It looks mint!

The Bronco is sold out in Aus so the only way to get the shorter wheel base with front battery mount is to get the kit and add my own body.

This is my first crawler so I'm a total n00b

What about the sport it's 12.3 less money and no complications with micro servos unless u really want two speed ( it works so well ) and diff locks.

Did look at it but I would be doing about 50/50 trail runs and rock crawling so thought ithe Bronco might be the best middle ground

I take it that the 2 speed has caused some problems by the sound of it?

My thinking was I should get the Bronco because of the weight difference up top and I could scoot round on a trail but also hit some rocks and crawl round for a bit.

I liked that it was "waterproof" because I wouldn't need to stress to much about puddles/mud in small amounts

2 speed and diff locks are not generally a problem. A lot of people seem to have problems with the shift servos but frankly I suspect most of the problems are self-inflicted.

Then two speed is awesome is what I meant it works perfectly with no issues it's the diff servos that go and I installed spools in my Bronco, you best solution is use a radio with end points to save the servos.
Also upgrade the steering servo and add bec if running stock esc and your good.

So two speed never an issue
Lockers only cos servos go out but can be resolved with either spools or best radio with endpoints.

What tire size and bumpers are you using? Looks great!

You can do what I did and pick up the short to long kit (TRA8057, about 20 bucks), It comes with new shock mounts so you can remove the fenders. That way you don't have to cut them and go go back if you want to.
