Default Celt's Tactical TRX-4

Nothing special here, another TRX-4 built form kit and wheelbase lengthened to fit the Tactical body.

Other items of note are that I, at the moment, have no need for 2-speed or un-lockable diffs. So, spools installed front and rear, heavy duty stock gear ratio gears with the 1-speed kit installed. I just wanted a solid, dedicated crawler. If I want to go fast, this is more than likely not the rig I would chose - I have many Tekno RC chassis that are very good at going fast - this is not that.

Very, very impressed with the quality of engineering, materials and fitment of this product. I've been building and racing RC kits for almost three decades, and this TRX-4 kit holds it's own to most. Very pleased.

Looking to stoke up a Bronco when the clear body and other bits become available. Probably build a Defender as well - at some point.

Agreed not a huge fan of the tactical body but the beige looks really good. I'm also really digging those clear windows. I'm thinking about fitting an interior out of a jeep and doing clear windows on my defender. Traxxus really went all out on everything but missed the ball on the windows

I can't say I have a jones for the Tactical either, but I wanted something a bit lighter than the Defender at the time - the Bronco wasn't out yet and it still isn't, as of now, available clear...soon though.

Was going to fit an Axial body, but my impatience got the best of me, and I wanted a drop on fit.

All in all, Traxxas did a pretty fair job on their scale bodies. Yeah, their heavy, but that comes with details, like internal wheel wells and the like.

If I had my choice, I'd vote for a pickup version of the Defender, I think they look badass...

I'm digging the clear windows too!

Where you going to run the maiden voyage? How long you been stuck in Madison?
I have one of the 3D printed power switches you can use with the stock ESC while the body is on, if you want it it's yours. If you ever want to met up and run or just to grab the part it's cool with me either way. I switched over to the Hobbywing 1080 ESC and don't have a use for it now. Plus, in the future, when I buy my second TRX4, I will sell off the ESC and go with the Hobbywing from the get go.

312mm Bronco
Rear Links 84.5mm ID/ID

324mm Defender / Tactical
Rear Links 96.5mm ID/ID
#TRA8245 - come in packs of two, you need four (4)

96.5 mm inside to inside (measurement between the plastic rod ends.

I built the long rear set so I could quickly swap them in and out depending on what body I feel like running that day.

Thank you for the follow up

I gather the Kit Rear Drive shaft has enough Overlap to accommodate the longer wheelbase?

Regards

Shoot...good point, not quite enough for my liking. I think it would eject on you. I just purchased #8250center half shaft set for like $8.00 and did a double long in the rear.

Looking good.

I like how you went simple and got rid of all the extras.

Very Clean Build

Thanks for the follow up on the rear drive shaft.

We are building a Tactical for the son, along with a Bronco

Want to be able to interchange as many parts as possible.

Regards

Hi celt, I was wondering about installing the single speed trans gear setup. Would you have an idea on the speed of the truck. Is it more like the standard high or low gear. I too have ditched the lockable diffs and want to remove the 2 speed trans but I don't want the truck to be too slow going with the single speed.

Sometimes simple and a good color makes all the difference. Berry sweet looking tactical unit!

I assume it's the standard gearing - the lower of the two.

I put the "default" gear ratio in mine - the ratio the RTR comes with. Traxxas offers a ratio higher and a ratio lower than the default.

https://www.amainhobbies.com/search?...TRX-4+Machined

under-drive 10/35T
default 11/34T
over-drive 12/33T

I don't know...if I were to live with this forever...I might just try over-drive 12/33T front and rear to see what I think. I suspect you may like that as well. Nice to have options I guess. Worth noting that you see I'm running the stock electronics to. A brushless system might give me a different opinion.

Yeah...I think you'll like that, I'll probably do similar. Some Castle system I suppose...
