| drtrydr's TRX4 D110 turned BRONCO
I guess its time to go ahead and start a thread for my Defender turned Bronco. I have chimed in on a few threads about what I did to convert over but want to get a long term thread started for this thing. Ill post more pictures later on down the road and a list of what was needed to convert to the Bronco. Wheels - RCChannel turned and bolted from the rear to get a deep dish look Tires- Prolin Swampers XL Front Bumper - Stock defender modded for a winch (temporary) Rear Bumper - Stock SCX10.2 Cherokee bumper. Trimmed corners and flipped the factory TRX4 mount around to make it work. Not the best option out there but my son wanted that receiver hitch so bad and he had a lot of fun trying to figure out how to make it work. |

| Re: drtrydr's TRX4 D110 turned BRONCO It took forever to decide but I love the look. Just wish they were beadlocks. Ill snap some of mine but below is a picture of them from another site. They are a three piece design NON-beadlock wheel. I basically flipped the center and bolted it back together. I had to drill out the adapter for the TRX4. I saw a set for sale long ago with the RC4WD brake disk hex adapters but I could not get them to line up. I tried for a while. It would have been better with hexes. I had to use a small spacer to take up the rest of the non threaded part of the stub shaft. Last edited by drtrydr2000; 04-12-2018 at 01:26 PM. |

They make a hell of a product. One of my favorite sets of wheels. I have thought about doing the ol' PVC ring trick that we had to do back in the beginning before beadlocks were the standard but im waiting to see how the CA holds up on the aluminium before I try it. If they hold Ill just leave em be. So far I havent had any issues. | |

Made some changes to the Bronco over the weekend. My son wanted the honcho front bumper and I made some KC light covers for the Axial light buckets. We like how it turned out but he wants a winch so bad. The next project will be trying to securely mount a winch. Also the requested closeups of the wheels and a shot of my rear bumper setup. Oh and the Traxxas tire carrier. (Was lucky enough to score 2 of these when AMain hoobies had them for regular price $15.00) |

Little bit of progress on the Bronco. - Sense sound system added - Vanguard front bumper (PERFECT FIT!! After trimming the little corners off) - Temporary Vaterra wheels and tires until I machine the RCChannel wheels down to accept a bead lock ring Perhaps my favorite and most creative mod yet is the flat black top. I am not a fan of painting on the outside of Lexan because eventually it will flake off. Using a green scotch brite pad for dishes I carefully dulled the lexan to give it an older fiberglass flat black look. I love how it turned out. I still have a small amount to do but overall it really does look like old fiberglass. I then hit the front flare a bit softer to make it look like rubber. I really love how its turning out. Picture of it sitting next to the D110 that has been built from spare parts and a set of portals that I trade my ascender axles for. Not bad having two TRX4s for a little over the price of one...lol. |
