Default RC4WD Taco

Working on mounting the '01 Tacoma body on my TRX4. Had to move the rx box closer to the frame and moved my ESC up front behind my servo. Inner fenders were already trimmed for the Proline 4runner so I just trimmed a little more. Removed rock sliders. The body sits like a Tacoma on 1 ton axles.

Nice! I was wondering how it would fit. Which trx4 did this start as? Rear fenders don’t fit? Guessing it was a bronco since there aren’t any rear posts (and no fenders).

Looks awesome.

It was originally a Defender. Shortened wb for a Proline 4runner. Chopped the back and had a Honcho cage in it.

Here she is painted up. I was able to pull the rock sliders up and in to make it fit better. Need to get some matte black for grille details. Had an extra honcho bed so I got creative

Very nice. Now if someone comes out with a 3rd gen access cab TACO body, I'm all over it.

Vedo,

I think I see the HR servo/battery forward conversion on your rig...

What do you think of it?

I'm happy with it even though my batteries are too big to fit between the shock towers. I'm not concerned with trying to keep everything super low cg. Besides I honestly don't think it would make that big of a deal and I'd rather keep my battery out of the water a little more anyway.

What did you have to do for the fenders? Chop off about 3/4" on both sides to squeeze them under that body? Did you use any of the other plastics under there, or just the front fenders?

The Taco almost looks narrower than my ProLine 4-Runner, but the wheelbase lines up 100%, so it looks like it'll be a homerun after I sort this. Is it going to be easier to just do shock towers on all four corners rather than spend the time shaving it down?

Shock towers will definitely be easier. But the front fenders cut easily. Keeping the front fenders also keeps the front mount battery tray in tact and the rock light mounts.

Looks like you need a That'smyrc raised bumper mount. Should hit him up on YouTube. His sxc10 bumper on trx-4 video shows the raised bumper mount

Yeah, it's funny how much I want to keep the rock light mounts...

I picked up the HR front-mount battery/servo setup, so it looks like I already have the pull the tie-in between the front fenders if I want to make that work. Considering I've got all the brass to hang off the front portals, I'm not sure it's necessary to relocate the battery before I even drive the thing.

Looking at the Taco body, it appears I can squeeze it over the rear fenders, as well, granted I don't mind trimming them either...

EDIT: Decided to go with the STRC towers for all four corners and pass the fenders on to another TRX4 owner in town. Looking like I might want to hang on to the stock battery tray for a potential mounting location for my Mamba Monster X and my receiver box, if I'm going to need to virtually eliminate the sliders...
