Default BEC for my trx4

I’m searching for a BEC for my trx4. I just ordered a 20KG digital servo(Baja servo). Just to be on safe side, I want to install a BEC. I just do my shopping from amazon.

I still have the stocked esc on my trx4, so do I have to upgrade that also?

No. Just add the BEC and the stock esc will do fine.

Instead of wasting money on a BEC just buy the HobbyWing WP 1080 ESC. It's $40 and much better than the stock. The internal BEC is also much stronger and adjustable.

I have been tempted to try one of those esc, they have great reviews, so the internal bec can handle all of the servos without the need of an external bec? interesting, if you say it works great with all the servos then i will definetly try one of these.

Supposedly the micro servos for shifting and controlling the remote locking diffs can't handle anything over 6.0V. I set my 1080 to 6.0V and it easily powers all of the servos. And even setting the ESC at 6.0V really wakes up the stock servo. My stock servo eventually stripped gears so I upgraded to the Savox and the 1080 ESC has no issues powering that with the 6.0V BEC setting.

I think you'll love it! If you find yourself wanting more power for the servo, which I doubt, you can add an external BEC so just the steering servo gets more power and the micro servos are run by the ESC's BEC.

+1 for the hobbywing 1080. Not only does it power everything I need it to, it can be set to a nearly inaudible 16khz pwm frequently. No more whine!
