Default pmis's trx4 build

hello everyone. i'm new here. just bought a trx4 kit. still in progress of building. let's start

the packing is convenient. you poured everything out in a bag for a part and left nothing after the completion of that part

i turned the bearing by hand and found them quite viscous

the inside of the gearbox

the shift mechanism

installed and greased

the outputs (to the front and rear axles)

the slipper. i didn't follow the instruction in manual as i thought it would make the slipper too tight

now for the shift servo. traxxas labelled each servo

gear box part completed

diffs, exploded view

diffs gears

diffs completed

rear axle

as you know the diffs can toggle lock/unlock mode. this is the locked mode

this is the unlocked mode

the portal part, exploded view

portal part finished

rear axle completed

now for the front axle. similar to the rear one

the (pseudo) cv joint, exploded view

with one of them built, for comparison

front axle finished

now these parts completed

the main frames of the chassis

building the chassis

the frames, inner fenders and cross members assembled

to be continued

Fantastic post! As someone who bought the RTR the quality build pics are appreciated. I’m sure mine will need servicing in the not too distant future and these give great insight. :-)

let's continue. time for electronics. motor and gearbox first

it is necessary for the receiver to stay horizontal otherwise the gyro inside would not function properly

the diffs locking servos

all electronics installed. spaghetti near receiver would be hidden later

traxxas did a great job in designing the radio box which effectively organize the wires

it's neat and tidy now

you can flip the battery tray cover to adape different thicknesses

i found it impossible to insert the battery tray into its position unless i remove the LR and RR wire mounts first. the manual didn't mention that

electronics part finished

now the time for shocks

the packing of electronics is a good place for the shocks to wait for bubbles releasing

shocks finished

shocks and linkages on front axle

front axle installed

shocks and linkages on rear axle

rear axle installed

it's disappointing that propeller shafts are made of plastic

one of them assembled, for comparison

it is necessary to align the pins otherwise the universal joints would introduce fluctuation

no need to use thread lock during the whole building process. traxxas added thread-locking material on some of the screws

chassis basically finished

traxxas lipo fits the tray certainly. i like the traxxas plug which integrates with its parallel charging wire

wheels and rims are ready

building process halts here as the body, proline 1985 hilux which was ordered in ebay, is not yet arrived. to be continue
