| Flat black fiberglass look top and rubber look flares NO PAINT!
Quick tip. To seperate the top and flares from the body I wanted to flatten them a bit but did not want to take the chance of painting on the outside to have it simply flake and scratch off. Solution...green Scotch Bright pad. I spent about 15 minutes taking the shine off of the top area. I was careful around the windows and body and did not tape them off although taping them off would have been better and easier. I still have work to do but I love the look of older fiberglass it has given. Next I got a bowl of water and spent maybe 2 minutes with the same pad wet on the front flare. I was a little less aggressive and just went back and forth following the arch of the flare. It is really giving a rubber look to the flare and I do not have to worry about it ever flaking off. Again it is not complete yet and I will probably go back and tape and redo it but wanted to share it here. I love how it is turning out. |
