Default Sport or kit

Just wondering what you guys think is the better option, getting the kit or the sport?

It really depends on what you want. If you enjoy assembling stuff and perhaps you are interested in doing your own body (trimming, painting, making it work with the chassis) the kit is absolutely the way to go. I went for the kit and I'm glad that I did. I enjoy building it as much (if not more) as I enjoy driving it.

If you want to get a car go bashing right away, not worrying about anything else (nothing wrong with that), go for the sport.

I really enjoy putting it together also and was thinking I could do it with my son, I'm not much of a painter but I’ve done a couple bodies or just hire it out.

Main advantage of the Sport is that it's approx $340 ( $30 cheaper than the kit) and you have a painted body ready to go. You can get up and running quicker in that it's RTR and put that xtra $30 that you saved and do another body of your choice.

Main advantage of the kit is that you get to build it and that means if/ when something breaks you'll be much more familiar with how to repair/ replace parts. It's more money @ approx $370 and you don't get a body, but if doing your own body and color completely of your choice appeals to you, then this may be the route to go.

Keep in mind that a LOT of people have issues with the crappy Traxxas steering servo going out after only a few runs ( same servo in both the kit and the Sport), so planning to upgrade the servo might be something to consider. Good thing is that there are some pretty decent servo choices for only about $20 +/-.

I got the kit, but had the Sport been available then, I’d have went with it. I didn’t install the rear locking servo/cable (shimmed it perma-locked) and really only use the front unlocked and high gear from time to time because they’re there.

Kit has lockable diffs and 2-speed tranny, inner fenders, no body
Sport has locked diffs, single speed tranny, body but no inner fenders.
Both are 12.3” wheelbase

That’s the biggest difference.
