I added a 3Brothers Atlas servo winch to the front of my TRX-4. I made an aluminum plate to fit where the original plastic battery tray was on the front fenders. I used 3/16" brake tubing flared on both ends to run the winch cable thru to keep the winch line centered in the fairlead. I used rod ends with JB Weld to mount the brake tubing to the plate. Also added an SSD Scale Hawse Fairlead to the stock TRX-4 Sport bumber. |

Finished up installing my DIY rock lights using COB LED strips from two of these. Really like how these worked out. Not as bright as my other DIY rock lights I've done, but wasn't going for super bright anyways. Think the amount of light is perfect. Here's some pics. Will be posting a video to my YouTube channel for these in the next week or so. Also will be doing a big update post for my Trx in my thread in the next few days. Have a great day everyone!!! |

Threw a set of RC4WD TF2 Marlin Crawlers bumpers on my freshly-built and painted Sport Unassembled Kit. This is only like the second body I've ever painted, so go easy. I'm way more into function than form, but I just think the stock bumpers look a little cartoonish to me. I had these RC4WD bumpers in my spare parts box, and dedided to give them a try. RC4WD makes bumper mounts specifically for putting these bumpers on the TRX-4, but I don't know how necessary they are. The TF2 Marlin Crawler bumpers mounted right up in the stock Traxxas bumper mounts, even though the mounting posts are round and not square. These are the all-plastic versions. They feel a lot less sturdy than the stock TRX-4 bumpers, but I am wondering if they will still do the job. I haven't been at this very long, but I do have some great crawling spots right here in town that have some pretty technical areas. These will be put to the test for sure. Do you think they'll hold up to the abuse? |

I finally got to make a permanent magnet mount for my H1 body. From before I've had only one hotglued metalstrip that connects to magnets on the chassis And without any guide for the front part of the body to keep it in place it would just move around without any control while driving.. From this To this So I 3D-printed a guide that fits around the magnets and centers perfectly around the shock tower. This is how it works.. After testmounting it I found out I couldn't keep it white.. So I printed it in black PLA instead and hot-glued it in the right place. So now it sits perfectly centered even after a ride in the "wilderness" in the backyard.. |

^ nice looking H1. This isn’t from today but a clip from last week with the Comanche. Installed the Samix high clearance links just before this run. Here’s a side shot to see the lower links as well |

Nice run Danza! Took the Trx out this evening to check out the new rock lights. They are allot more mellow then the other DIY rock lights I've made. I think I like them not as bright. Here are a few pics! Enjoy! |

If you'd have just flipped the winch over or reversed the channel to pull from the bottom of the spool that whole brake line guide contraption wouldn't be necessary.

After I posted these pics, I did go back and move the line to pull from the bottom, but I left the brake line there to guide the line thru the body and to help keep it lined up with the spool. I have great success with this method on my other rigs. The one thing I hate is to have winch line problems during a fast paced comp. If this setup doesn't work out the way I plan, then I will try it the way you described. Thanks again!

noob here, I just got my TRX4 Sport a little over a week ago and I'm already slipping deep down the rabbit hole. I'm still working through the "Free" mods since I'm wanting to spend the $$ on 2nd one. Instead of buying brass parts and other hop ups I am saving to buy another in the Kit form and let the kids use the first red one. So far I clipped the center lugs on the tires and flipped the front bumper and trimmed the body. I also cut of the hitch and flipped just the bumper, not the frame mount. It seemed too high flipping the mount, so thanks to things I've read here on the forum I think I will eventually look for a front mount to use on the rear, or replace the front with something custom and swap that mount to the back. I won't bore anyone with the same photos seen over and over of flipped bumpers and trimmed bodies. However, the other thing I did yesterday was to dig into the toolbox for some lead weights from my short lived on-road racing stint. I think this is about 3oz of lead taped into a shape that fit perfectly behind the bumper (remember I'm still cheap and not buying brass upgrades ... yet..). I also used the holes in the mount to drill through and thread into the lead. I thought this was a little cleaner looking than the zip tied lead bars I've seen in photos. When I get to building the 2nd as a KIT I may then buy the brass parts to use on the new assembly.... depending what my budget is at the time. The lead all taped up: View from the top: And another from the top: From the bottom: |
