I haven't seen your build. With front fully compressed left or right and wheels at full lock left or right... any contact issues with the fenders? That looks really good... I like that the body ( from the pic) doesn't look like it's sitting too high up on the chassis.

I felt I went a bit over the top trimming the fenders, but it was to ensure no tyre contact under full compression. It didn't quite work, as, under full compression a hard left or right lock just catches the outer most back lug on the Hyrax tyres (It misses with the original Traxxas tyres). I have, however, noticed that I rarely have any contact when running and it has been over the local crawler course a lot late last year/early this year. It's even been comp'd once.

Body wise it is the cab from a Proline 1978 Chevy K10, cage wise its the Vaterra cage (VTR230055) and they mate up pretty well.

The whole thing is on a second hand TRX-4 Defender, that has been shortened to 313mm wheelbase.

It was my first attempt at a real rig build rather than just doing a kit.

Demolished a Input Gear. My boys were bashing around the yard for a bit when the passenger rear wheel became stuck frozen. I asked them to give it some gas and we heard a crunch then it started freewheeling. Took it apart and found some teeth missing.

Time to rebuild and time for more power

I wonder how that happened? Was one of the bearings bad?

Last couple of days just doing maintenance on my trx4 axles disassembled bearings got to soak in some oil. And then the Cow rc Utter butter packed the axles fairly full but not all the way. Did my transmission and decided to go back to the 2sp set up. Still thinking about bringing back the diff lockers.
And a small upgrade was added MIP 4mm track widener (4mm per side and the track with is now 8mm wider).

My boy apparently drives to hard and broke his rear axle. So installed another new axle on his bronco. One day I just need to pull the trigger and order him a bunch of upgraded parts for it so it can handle the abuse. But at the same time he is also not that careful when he drives and doesn't stop to think it's hard on the truck the way he drives. Plus driving the way he does makes me not want to put on nice upgraded parts to beat the crap out of either. What to do uh? Lol.

Installed some GPM aluminum front shock towers and lower link mounts on my Trx-4. Also added some spacers and longer bolts to the bottom shock mounts for some more stability.

I took it out for a test run last night. Man, did it make a huge difference in stability. Also noticed the Steering being a lot more responsive not having the flex in the pan hard mounts. Definitely a great upgrade.

Does anyone know when we will see the ‘68-‘72 K5s Traxxas was showing back in November?

Added a Flysky Gt5.

I like it a lot. Tried it out on my rock wall and it did well.

Seems better control than the stock Traxxas radio and definitely feels better in hand.

Looking at that picture, I think I need to break out the scissors again and carve up the fenders more.

I started on a mounting set up for support gear. I plan on attaching jerry cans, first aid and a shovel once shaped and painted
