I agree Gramps. The tinkering is part of the fun!

I’ve had the same brass on the front portals for a few months and that made a noticeable improvement.

That's a handsome truck, NightOwl!

Anyway...

Installed the 880! Had some issues with jumpy startup and fwd/rev behavior but managed to find settings that work. Very nice on 4s, creeps like a... creep? And just enough wheelspeed.

Here's the layout, I run 2x2s so stuck the ESC up front.

Replaced worn out Hyrax tires...went with some Super Swampers super soft. Sanded/polished off paint on outside of wheels to a raw finish for a beadlock look.

Transmitter adult beverage holder...game changer.

I like the drink holder. Seriously, that's a good idea.

Today I looked at my TRX-4 and TRX-6. I've been too busy to drive them for the past several months.

I feel that agony....i do my best to at LEAST put two packs through, one or two of my favorite rigs- every day after working on 1:1 vehicles for a living...but, some days, im either too busy trying to balance home life such as chores, pets, etc..orr
I broke something on one or more rigs, and now, my only option is to stare at them all lonely, cold/unused, torn apart just WAIIIITING for what some people might call "Covid Prime" to drop what i need on my doorstep so i may get back to "blowing off some steam" in a practical, useful, and very enjoyable way, via BASHING!/ or crawling...

My new setup, i usually tow my rusty 4x4 vxl behind my TRX4 sport, after carrying my drone bag over my shoulder loaded with TX, wheel wrenches, spare batts, some drivers, etc...and i ride my mountain bike along-side/behind the tow rig to about 2 blocks behind my home where they are throwing up new homes like crazy! Find a good spot in the cleared out area, unloads Rusty, and let hin EAAt (trying to NOT break it over deep ruts, etc at high speed.. when the sun has been set and darkness falls, i park/load the Rusty back up, disconnect trailer, then go crawling till its dark out.

I have to BRIGHT LED lightbars on the TRX4, as well as rock lights and marker lamps...all are controlled on/off from my FS-Gt5 Tx. So i play "Carolina Crawl" till dinner's ready, or when my backup pack only has enough juice tow back home.

But, yes, just looking at them helps pass the time till they're operational.

R.C. means both;Remote control, and Rock Crawler.

haha thanks...was pretty easy...

step 1:carefully drill a hole into the side of the transmitter
step 2:then use a screw to attach something that will hold a beer.

I just got them because I like the look, to be perfectly honest!

Not going to enter any competitions with them...

This is exactly what happened on my 1:1 truck. Thornbirds look great, they perform terribly though :-(

Bearings from Locked Up Rc came in for the stock portal housings.

Took the SSD portal brass off the rear and put the stock housings back on.

For those with RTR’s I highly recommend downloading the kit assembly manual. I looked up the bearings that went in the housing and ordered individual ones from LURC. Hard to beat.

I filled the shocks with 30wt all the way around.

Finally got a chance to try things out today.

Nice day to play.

Seems that she's sticking to the rocks pretty well, Ben. Looks like the tweaking is paying off.

Rebuilt the shocks using the black pistons for more tuning options

Thanks HPD!!!!

It’s been a fun learning process.

That last rock where the rig lost it was really slick.

Earlier I had the Landmines on and coming from the other direction. As soon as the fronts hit that rock the truck said bye bye. It’s interesting, just like that thread in the tire section.

I’ve been very pleased with the Desert Lizard shocks. They’ve held up very well to being torn apart and reassembled so many times. No leaks.

The oil made big improvement vs running no oil. Slowed down the speed of shock extension instead of flying out with no oil.

I’m running 3 hole pistons so I could probably get away with even heavier oil.

I only wish the Desert Lizards came in 105mm. That size I feel would of been perfect for my set up.
