What I did to my TRX-4 today: Finished putting the windows in using .1" lexan for the curved bits on the back corners. Got the front bumper with camera mount installed. Finally got a 3s battery and had exactly the reults folks here told me I would- with the gearing I had: burned out a motor. Put a spare motor and smaller (yet still too big!) pinion gear in- burned out again- even had flames for a few seconds. On my last spare motor now and using the largest pinion that is recommended for my gearing. No more high speed, bashing runs until I get more motors in - and maybe a 13t pinion gear. Put a new body on my son’s TRX4. Plan to remove the selectable diffs and install lockers. This thing needs to lose some weight. I’d rather lose weight up top then add weight down low to improve COG. Oh also scored some used Proline Hyrax on Proline beadlocks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Cut little more weight up top by eliminating the selectable lockers but I decided to keep the 2-speed. Ran it a bit and handles great. I got the truck with metal axle housings but wanna try the truck with a plastic housing in the rear. That and a heavier weight shock oil. Good on you guys! I’m the same way. On my 1:1 jeep I have a big trash carrier called the “Trash A Roo” that attaches to the spare tire on the back. Undo the buckles and I put one of the 3X gallon trash bags in. Really slick. I police every area we stop at. No reason to have any left behind with that. For my fellow off-roaders that are interested. http://trasharoo.com/TRASHAROO%20/About.html | ||

When we go for walks on the beach I pick up shells/sea glass and my wife picks up plastic and garbage lol. She brings a bucket for it.

With the warmer temps we’ve been having, my rock walls are starting to emerge from their winter wonderland. So I figure I better get ready for crawler season and today was good a day as any. Swapped out all shock oil back to 15wt. Last fall switched out to 40wt all around, in hopes the front wouldn’t raise up as easy and that didn’t work so well. So back to 15. I think I’ll get some weights in the 20’s to try. I added 105mm limiter straps to the front. My shocks are 110mm and I’ve been having problems with the front end unloading on good climbs, so much that the driveline starts binding. So, hopefully these will stop it before the binding. I put the rear underDrive back in to go with the overdrive in the front. When I first ran both, I wasn’t sure if I liked it. My GSpeed came with a 33% overdrive trans and the little bit I got to run it before winter, I absolutely loved it. The front tires just want to eat on the rocks. So back in the underDrive went. Also, in another thread a while ago I mentioned my front unloading issues, someone suggested overdriving the front to keep the front down. So, I figured the 22-24% with both should help better than front by itself. As long as Mother Nature doesn’t dump more white stuff on us, I should be back after it in a few weeks. Cant wait to be back on my rocks! |

Last month I broke the stock bumper mount and so I glued it back together and ran it like that until last week when I broke the stubs off the back of the bumper. I decided to try brazing a custom bumper and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Then I went to pick up trx4 shocks to put on the gen8 axe and ended up walking out with a new steering servo for the trx4 lol. Now time to put that on. |

Spent hours stripping it all down to clean sand out of every orifice. Luckily none had gotten inside of the gearbox, axles or portals but it was a mess. All this from just 2 hours in the sand. At least next time I know to just strip down the key points to clean, ie driveshaft joints, front axle exposed joints, behind hex drives, motor spur gear and flush through the motor internals, plus a few other minor areas. Still got the other rig to clean yet I've added some heatshrink over 3 of the driveshaft joints to see if it helps to keep the sand out. Can't add it to one of the centre joints due to zero clearance between the gearbox casing. |

Installed a Hobbywing Axe R2 2800kv, Robinson Racing 9t pinion (stock 11 was way to fast, no need for second gear at all). Had to lift the body/sliders with ~15mm stand-offs under the sliders, a 4mm drop rear bumper mount and a flipped front mount in order to fit her new shoes without rubbing the fenders.
