Aux power with a hobbywing 1080
 

Hi gents, as the title says, I am replacing my stock esc with a hobbywing 1080 so that I can run a JX cls-5830HV 30kg servo.
I have the factory traxxas lighting kit for my head/tail lights and light bar all running off the factory aux power port. How can I power these moving to the hobbywing esc?

I had to do the same, if you're keeping the XT60 connector, you'll have to do a bit of soldering.
Or use an auxiliary battery just for it.

Or if you are using the internal bec at 7.4v just re do your wiring and plug it into the programming port on the esc.

That would work if your running a Sport but if you have a Kit, Defender, or Bronco I don't think the diff and shift servos can handle the 7.4V


Cleanest way is to splice in a JST connector onto the ESC side of the battery connection which is essentially what they did on the stock ESC.

You'd just need to double check that the JST end is the correct male/female orientation as I can't remember off the top of my head what orientation the JST coming off the stock ESC is.

The same (or similar) servos come in the nitro trucks. A fully charged NiMh 5cell hump pack is 6.5-7v. They can handle 7.4v.
