| How to fix your 2075X non-responding servos
If your Traxxas 2075X oem servo is not responding to any input and the gears are fine, chances are it just got hot and blew the smd fuse. I stumbled onto a video of how to check and bypass the fuse. The servo in the video is a standard 2075, it is the same as the 2075X the only difference is the 2075X motor has a little more power and metal gears. Fuses are put in place for a reason ! Soooo..... use this mod at your own discretion. Lots of components can fail inside servos, this appears to be the most common problem. If you ohm out the fuse and its open try this mod. If the fuse is good....toss it and get a new one. Its not worth the headache trying to diagnose the rest of the components. I have a brand new 2075X traxxas sent me still in the bag, opened it up and the 2075X does indeed have the smd fuse as 2075 does in this guys video. Last edited by ScoJac; 04-08-2018 at 09:22 AM. |

Are you sure? The video and description infers this was for old 2075 servos and later models did not have the fuse at all? So I’d doubt the 2075x does?

All I know is that the brand new in a bag 2075X I just now opened and removed the back has that white ceramic smd fuse in it. Maybe he meant the older model did not have the fuse ? I dunno, that video was made in March 2016. In the video comments a couple commenters with TRX4's were able to fix them by bypassing that fuse. This, I'm sure won't fix all problem the servos can have but if the fuse reads that it's open give it a whirl. Last edited by ScoJac; 04-08-2018 at 10:10 AM. |

If that’s the case it’s a great find. They must have reinstated it for the 2075x. With the application it’s used for in this rig it will be under load much more. Mines on Hi-Lo transmission duty so I couldn’t take mine apart easily to look. :-)

I'm torn: On the one hand, great post and find, very good to know! On the other hand, this also supports the continued use* of the garbage stock steering servo. Friends don't let friends use the stock steering servo! *Save for being re-purposed as a shift servo as o0wiz0o notes, that's cool (and the fact that it's only applicable purpose is replacing a servo a quarter it's size, speaks volumes of it's quality) |

Well a month or so later and I had to do this fix on my repurposed 2075x Shift servo! Thank you! :-)

I have a colleague who bought a couple of slashes the beginning of the summer for his kids. Since I'm the RC guy at work, he was telling one of the servos quit and he found a suggestion online on how to jumper out the fuse. Shortly after that, we were chatting and he mentioned that he is now trying to fix a burned out ESC. He brought it to work and ordered a new FETs to try and repair it. You can see where he scraped the conformal coating off the Housekeeping/BEC portion of the circuit and the FET has burned in a small area. My lab supply is capable of 1.8amps. I controlled the servo by the potentiometer and found a dead-spot that caused the supply to current limit. In contrast, a cheap Solar Servo modded into a servo winch pulls just over an amp, loaded. The fuse opened because something else in the servo had failed. The fuse did it's job and protected the down-stream components until he "fixed" it causing more severe damage. |

Just FYI I have seen multiple videos of guys doing this. Also once they have done this the ESC went up in smoke. I think I'd buy a new servo before risking this to get a crappy servo going again. Just my option.

I bought this one , and just installed it. at $18 it was a no brainer. I was anticipating my stock one to go out and sure enought it did after a month. This one I linked has a slightly shorter cable, I just crimped my own extention cable and good to go, it fit without the extension but to tight for my taste. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

pretty sure that is a SMD RESISTOR, not a fuse, that would make more sense, but yeah know knows, it's traxxas....

As an update my servo lasted another month after the fix (20 Miles) and then failed. No damage to the HW 1080 though.
